Yeah, I’m one of those guys. I saw the thing get submerged in water in the commercial and it kept working and, after owning this speaker for just two months, I finally worked up the courage to try it and, sure enough, it worked! Pretty great! Also, the sound quality is great for a portable speaker. It connects almost immediately to my iPhone XR every time and the sound transmits flawlessly up to about 30 open yards or through two interior walls and 10 yards. When compared to my Sonos play 1s it’s a little washed out, but when compared to my 808 thump, it sounds like front row at Carnegie Hall. It’s a little bulky and heavy, but definitely shock and drop resistant. As a parent of two small children, this thing has been dropped into a toilet, dropped downstairs, chewed on, drug through dirt and STILL works like day 1 out of the box. I can play this speaker continually on a single charge for about 5 hours before it needs a charge which is a little less than I would like since I’m a soldier who sometimes needs several days worth of charge before I get access to a good place to charge it. All in all, I’d give it four and a half stars, but this site doesn’t allow that.

I have both the Flip 3 and the 4 and will compare them on my review. I love the sound of both of them. The Flip 3 is a little bit smaller in size compare to the 4. In the photo the black one is the 3 and the blue one is the 4. Soundwise both sound really good and loud for the size. One con is the bass. Both need a little bit more bass but don't let that hold you back from buying one of these pretty speakers. The 4 sounds more balanced, clean and louder than the 3. Keep in mind the are where the 4 really wins is battery and waterproof. The 4 looks and feels more durable. Just for the battery I would fork the 20 dollars more for the Flip 4. The 3 last me 3 hours and 40 minutes at full volume. The 4 last me easily 6 to 8 hours at full volume. Now at half volume you could listen at least 8 to 10 hours on the Flip 3. On the 4 half volume you would be listening alsmot two days straight with the 4. Both speakers are amazing quality but in my honest opinion I would go for the Flip 4 for the battery and more balanced louder sound. Hope my review helps you in your purchased.

My daughter would play her phone in the bathroom all the time. The noise that came out of that otter box wrapped I-phone was ear piercing. I bought the flip 4 for her to connect too and the music took on a hole new sound. The mid range and highs were crisp and clear, I could actually understand the words. The bass was incredible out of this little unit. Water proof a plus too. This speaker was put to the test right away with a dunking in the sink and shower. Nice unit unbelievable sound from such a small unit

The JBL Speaker is really nice. The bluetooth connecting is very easy and connects quickly. This is a durable and sporty speaker w/ really good sound. waterproof is a plus around pools bathtub etc. It's not as expensive as some other top brands portable speakers.

Too many portable speakers to choose from so I read a lot of product reviews. This speaker rated really high so I bought one. Very impressed with the sound and how high the volume will go. The battery life seems geat. I'm considering buying another identical speaker because as good as this sounds in a 20' x 20' room I can imagine adding another speaker and having them seperated across the room will give it a much better stereo sound. The size is almost identical to a typical 16 oz. water bottle.

I read many reviews on a variety of JBL bluetooth speakers and this one hasn't disappointed. I drive an SUV that has loud road noise. So loud that the stock sound system isn't loud enough to listen to audio books. I bought this speaker and play audio books from my phone while driving and it's loud enough to be clearly heard over the road noise. Great battery life, easy to connect, and nice rubberized casing. I've been so impressed that I'll be purchasing more as gifts.

Amazing speaker!! Easy to set up, took speaker to the beach and battery lasted all day. Completely waterproof so you can take it anywhere and makes it very easy to clean. The sound is great and volume is really good for the size of the speaker, can easily cover a medium sized room. Highly recommend

Great sound, especially for the price. We don't plan to submerge it, but nice to know it can withstand rain, etc. I was able to get 10% off with new Best Buy credit card. I wasn't a fan of some colors, but Bust Buy staff dug up a black one for me. My daughters love it. My son has a 2+ year old JVC Charge that has taken a beating and still sounds great too. Avoid cheap Bluetooth speakers and buy this for superior sound and durability.

Purchased for the price point and because it claims to be waterproof. Didn’t expect such excellent sound quality and clarity to come in a waterproof package. I expected a large sacrifice in one way or another. Battery life is very good as well. Not the best I’ve ever heard and not the most durable product I’ve ever seen, but by far the best combination of the two at this price point I’ve found.

This speak not only has amazing bass but sound quality is pretty good for it's price range. Very portable and battery life is pretty descent. The waterproof is a plus and it plays pretty good even with water on it won't be disappointed with your speaker

I have some high-end BT speakers that pair up for use around the house or when we drive somewhere. But the size and weight of my regular BT speakers prohibit bringing on a plane. I chose this because of the sale price and used some BB points which reduced the price to $6 for me. This size and weight fits perfect in my backpack's side pocket. I do use a cable more than BT for improved sound quality and it will produce the best bass when placed in a drawer or bouncing off a hard surface. Battery life is really decent. I used on a three day bourbon tour and never needed to charge it. To be sure, the larger and far more expensive JBL models sound far better. But for travel-- this works great.

This speakers battery lasts a very long time, great base, clear sound and its easy to transport. For the price I paid it's well worth it. Also Bluetooth syncs well with our phones and ipod.

Wanted a bluetooth speaker that could withstand a toss in the pool by my 2 year old, actually had good quality sound & volume, not too big to throw in a backpack for the beach and within $100. It was between this, Sony, Bose & Ultimate Ears. Really liked Bose Soundlink Micro sound quality but because of it's smaller size can't create as high volume. The Soundlink II has the volume capability but is only water resistant so won't survive an unfortunate toss in the pool even if I was willing to stretch the budget a bit. Very pleased with my purchase and the assistance of the Best Buy associate. Myself and friends are impressed with the Sound Quality & Volume. Can't go wrong for the price. If you can catch it on sale it's a no brainer.

Easy to set up. Wish I knew which other speakers it could sync up with. Good sound. Much better than my ancient speakers and it charges pretty darned fast. Wish I had bought 2 at the sale price. Even though I live in under 500 SF, when I like my music loud I like it very loud. My house is essentially soundproof and it seems it is sound absorbing on the inside too now that I have a decent speaker. I don't care if it's waterproof and as a YouTube video review pointed out it's heavy and will sink so what's the point? Splashes while you're boating? Biggest bonus - I got rid of 4 wires and a plug. Yay!

I bought this little guy as an upgrade to the small inexpensive one I got on Amazon (which works well for what it is). I had no real expectations other than it was going to sound slightly better. Well, the sound quality is fantastic. The highs are clear and the bass bumps for a small speaker. The volume is plenty loud enough to fill the area I'm using it in. Are you going to fill a concert hall with sound, probably not, but in my home I can walk two rooms away and still hear clear, clean audio. The battery life is great and it charges pretty quick. It come with an AUX cable to play other non-Bluetooth devices. I've used that to hook up a record player that I have. Overall an excellent product.

It feels really solid and battery has been working well. Works great - powerful bass and full sound with a crazy lot of volume for something it's size.. unbelievable really for it's size.

I had been waiting for this to hit store shelves since I first heard about it. Overall, it's a very nice upgrade from the Flip 3. It has overall better sound and better battery life than the older model. It's slightly larger than the original, but now has a much warmer bass response and actually has a brighter high end. If I had to critique it, I'd say that I'm not crazy about the annoyingly loud tone that plays when you power it on/off. I wish they would've left the radiators alone, because they have a shiny/plastic texture to them that looks sort of cheap. All of that aside, I think it's very much worth the price and I'll be buying another one soon to have a nice stereo configuration.

I have been pleasantly surprised by the fantastic sound quality of this shockingly portable speaker. In fact, I decided to get another JBL Flip for JBL Connect+, but it has a few glitches and quirks that make it better suited as a single speaker. If I were rating Connect+, I’d give it 2/10. The Flip 4 itself, however, I actually give it 10/10. It succeeds masterfully in every important area: sound quality, portability, ease of use, waterproof, great battery. No USB-C, but that’s nothing. I could not be happier that I bought this.

Don't let the small size of this speaker fool you, it has excellent sound as well as a surprising amount of bass (if you position it near a wall or corner). It has better sound than the larger Charge 3. Very long battery life. I highly recommend this speaker to everyone I know. Great job JBL.

Bought one as a gift and decided I needed one as well. Sound Quality is on point, can turn it towards a wall to bounce the acoustics off of as well. Easy Bluetooth connect and one fast charge lasts a long time. I really liked the orange charging cord, too bad I smashed it in my car door.
