My older ones have 1/8" jacks which are handy, but i mostly use Bluetooth connection since range and quality is very good.

I have a very small backyard and it was perfect. I prefer less bass, but the JBL Flip5 was made with bass in mind, so keep that in mind. Over-all it is a great midsize portable speaker. I use it frequently during BBQ's, and when I shower. if you are contemplating on buying, I recommend to go for it. You will more than likely not be disappointed. Happy customer here.
