I read many reviews before purchasing this speaker because I already have the JBL Go 3. Many of the reviews say that it is definitely worth the upgrade going from the JBL Go 3 to the JBL Go 4. I personally do not think it is worth it. Although the speaker has a nice look and design to it and it has an app to make some adjustments to the sound I do not think the sound quality is that much of a noticeable difference from the 3 to the 4. The portability of the speaker is nice as it can easily be clipped to a backpack or put inside a purse. Sound quality is decent and if you don't own any of the Go series speakers then this may be worth it for you but I do not think there is much improvement from the 3 to the 4 and I would not recommend it you are looking to upgrade.

If not for one serious flaw, a nice step up.

Improvements over the Go 3 are recognizable but there is one serious flaw. The Go 4 is similar is shape to the Go 3. However, there are a few differences. The Go 3's buttons respond wherever they are pressed. The Go 4 only responds if pressed in the center. The Go 4's battery life is rated at 7 hours vs 5 hours for the Go 3. Also, the Go 4 is compatible with JBL's "Portable" App which includes an equalizer, several pre-set equalizer settings.as well as the ability to connect up to 100 JBL speakers together or two speakers together for stereo playback. The App also shows the battery charge. The sound of the Go 4 is similar to the Go 3 but with a more prominent mid range. However, because of the equalizer, the speaker is easy to adjust to your taste. The sound is clean and clear. However, there seems to be a connectivity issue that is not present on the Go 3, or Clip 4 or Flip 6. When the speaker is connected to a GPS App the first 4 or 5 words are cut off and the speaker begins with the 6th word. I haven't tried the speaker for audio books or other voice related Apps but I would expect them to have an issue as well. I thought it might be related to the App but the Flip 6 uses the same App and Equalizer and works fine with the GPS so it is a problem unique to this speaker.

Thanks for your feedback. Here are some troubleshooting steps that can help isolate the issue with your JBL Go 4. First, try other GPS or voice - related apps to check if the problem lies with the app sources. Next, try connecting the speaker to a different device (phone/tablet).
