Nearly Perfect Smart Speaker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The JBL Link 300 is a beast as far as sound goes. The JBL default sound stage can get a little bassy at high volumes but I honestly can't even crank it up anywhere close to that level in my living room because it simply gets TOO loud to listen to comfortably. There are like 50 volume intervals on this speaker so it may take some button presses to adjust the volume in a meaningful way but I have grown to appreciate that because you really can find the PERFECT volume for whatever your trying to do. It looks fine and will blend in to most shelves and end tables without anyone noticing but it could look nicer in my opinion. The worst thing about it in my opinion is the WiFi indicator on the front that is always lit up. It is roughly the size of a football, only slightly taller and the included power cord has plenty of length to reach to an available outlet. The power source is a part of the cable, though, so that may effect where the speaker can be placed in your home. The Google Assistant functionality is well implemented but it does have some functional gaps compared with Google's first party speaker offerings. Sending messages and tweaking the EQ settings first and foremost. Assuming those functions don't hamper your experience, the Link 300 represents a great middle ground for consumers halfway in between the original Home and the Home Max speakers in Google's own product line. It will be more than powerful for your living room and even when listening to audio at high volumes the microphones can pickup your voice from across the room.

I Love the Sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I already have the regular Google Home which sounds OK but this JBL Link 300 speaker sounds incredible so my device moved to the bedroom and this speaker took it's place in my living room. It's deep rich sound reminds me of the sound you get from a Bose speaker and it really fills the room. I rarely used my old Google Home to listen to music, I only used it to answer questions and turn on my lights. With this unit, I enjoy listening to music all the time. One of the things I like about it is the microphone is very sensitive and can hear me say "OK Google" and give it my next command from across the room even when it's playing music at it's loudest setting. I've tried various genres of music from soft easy listening to hard rock and everything sounds fantastic.

Excellent value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This speaker produces balanced sound and offers more functionality on the speaker itself than the Google Home or Google Home Max. It's not as loud as the Google Home Max for obvious reasons such as (smaller and less speakers/unit) yet much louder than the Google Home. I should note that the Google Home wasn't built with listening to music as the primary function. The JBL link 300, 500 and Google Home Max were built with music as the primary function. The JBL link 500 is more comparable to the Google Home Max in terms of loudness, but this is about the JBL link 300. If you're looking for room filling sound and you have a small to medium size room, then one JBL link 300 will be more than enough. I purchased a second one because the first one by itself sounded so good with strong bass (not overpowering) that I thought two would be even better and two of these together don't disappoint in the least bit. The one thing that I didn't particularly care for is the fact that the volume doesn't really crank up until you hit 60% or more on the volume control but once you get to the mark then every incremental increase in volume from that level is big. Aside from that it's practically a Google Assistant minus the ability to place voice calls directly from the speaker itself, which isn't a big deal for me. I'm fortunate enough to have caught a pair of these at half they normal price, so I feel as though this was a steal.

Jbl Charge 4 the win
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So i am a whitewater rafting guide on the ocoee river in Tennessee and something thats always eluded the majority of the rafting community is audible music while rafting the river. Well i risked it with my Jbl Charge 4 that ive owned for roughly 3 years now. I strapped it to my boat with a cam strap and played mostly key glocks as we proceeded to flip our boat at every possible opprotunity which left the speaker fully submerged in 1500 cubic feet per second of water and it didnt miss a single beat. I know its not to be water proof but as far as im concerned this speaker is fully submergeable

Absolutely Love It!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Small speaker, HUGE full sound! This little speaker fills the room easily. Other manufactures take note! This is how I expect speakers in this price range to sound. The Google assistant works great too. Only downside is it's not portable because there is no battery.

Speaker Good, Assistant lacking
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are looking for a good sounding speaker, the JBL link 300 is for you. But if you are looking to use Google assistant to its fullest, stear clear. I purchased the JBL Link 300 for the speaker and Google assistant. Not stated anywhere from JBL, Best Buy or Google that 3rd party google assistants do not have the full function of the Google Home speakers. No broadcast available, no calling available, plus more. Pretty much this speaker can look things up for you and cast music, which is great if that is what you are looking for.

One Really Annoying Bug!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall I'm happy with the sound of this unit. It really does pack quite a punch for it's size. However, every time there is even a momentary internet outage, the speaker loses connection, and has to be rebooted to reconnect. I have three Google Home Max, and five Google Home Minis that have zero issues getting back online, so not sure what the Link's problem is. Really hoping JBL gets this resolved. I honestly want to add two to three more of these in my house, but with this glitch it would be more hassle than it's worth.

Routines and Sleep Timer would not work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this when I saw it on sale and hoped it would work well with my Google Assistant BUT after setting up, I found that the routines and sleep timer would not work. Whenever I tried to use them, it responded that "routines are not working on this unit". I contacted support and after 2 days and another phone call I talked to someone about the problem. They seemed perplexed and felt sure that the unit would run routines but could not come up with a solution. In the end, I returned to store for a refund. The sound was so-so, not what I would have expected. I guess I will wait for the Sonos One when they get the Google Assistant enabled.

Poor Support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a few link series speakers to fill up my house, sound is good but support is lacking. DO NOT BUY if you are going to put it in your bedroom. The ok google set alarm feature DOES NOT WORK. It hasn't since the end of January 2018. JBL says a fix won't arrive until the end of April 2018. Stick with google products like the home max to stay up to date with the latest firmware if google assistant is important to you.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't bother with any "smart" anything from JBL. I bought a Link 20 in February 2018. A few months later, it started popping and clicking during playback. Sent it in for a warranty exchange. Same problem with the new speaker. Used it as a dumb speaker (didn't connect it to WiFi), which fixed that particular problem. THEN earlier this week the charging port stopped working. Worst tech purchase I've ever made.
