The ANC seems to have stopped working already

I honestly think my headphones, which are just a few days old, have lost the ANC ability. They worked well at first but not today. Admittedly, I'm spoiled because my grandson lets me use his Sony WH-1000XM4's for work, but I feel guilty using them all the time. I've been trying out many, many headphones to get one that's "close enough" to the 1000XM4 and XM5 industry standard without costing more than I should spend. Thought my JBL 660NC were going to be those headphones, but just days in and it's not filtering any noise that I can tell. I can even hear the clicks on my keyboard as I type That didn't happen the first couple of days. When you have to keep turning the headphones on and off and push all the buttons to see if ANC is on, you know the ANC isn't cutting it. Music sounds great on these and they're comfortable, but I'm not keeping them. Will have to save for my own 1000XM4's, which are phenomenal for noise cancellation.
