The battery life is said to be more than 5 hours but it doesn’t last 2 hours. Not even if you turn off the lights and bass. So you have to have it connected to an outlet if you don’t want it dying fast. It also doesn’t charge while music is playing.

Posted .Thanks for your feedback. Our JBL Partybox Encore Essential has up to 6 hours of battery life. This may vary depending on volume and music content. If the speaker doesn't meet the advertised playtime hours even at low to mid-volume levels, there could be a problem with the battery of the unit.
