Can’t hear all the sounds from a distance except for the base and it only sounds loud right in front of speaker. There are no speakers on the sides or the backside so you lose surround sound.

I bought this speaker with very high hopes. My family and friends have jbl speakers. Every single unit that I have listened to blew my mind with quality. This JBL PARTYBOX ON-THE-GO sounds terrible. It stuggles in all areas. It sounds good on a very low level but once you get it to half volume or plus the quality is not there. The other thing is the mic is very low. If you have the music turned up you cant hear anyone on the mic. I would recommend any other jbl speaker but not this unit. If your looking for a portable unit like this one i would recommend the JBL PARTYBOX ENCORE ESSENTIAL with two mic instead. Double if not triple the sound quality of this speaker. Mics work 100 times better.

Unfortunately it feel way short that I was hoping it was gonna be. I guess it nice for the beach or a picnic, but its definitely not made to turn heads.
