It's definitely a solidly made speaker. The ambient lights wrap almost completely around the unit. There is a JBL App the works with setting different light sequences/colors. I was more for a nice speaker and I thought something from Harmon Kardon would be awesome. Fell very short.

The color changing on this speaker is very cool, but I feel like this speaker's sound is very weak. If you are going to use it in a small room it may be fine though.

Jbl speakers are always good, these are good speaker but not better than Bose for the same price you get much better quality sound

Lights are awesome. However I was not impressed with the overall sound quality for my needs.

Sound quality to include Bass is great whether inside a room or outside at a BBQ or sports field. Lights are pretty cool as well as the app that manages it. Pairing is extremely easy with an NFC enabled device, I just turned NFC and Bluetooth on my Samsung Galaxy S4 and it paired within seconds(there is NFC lettering at the bottom of the speaker you place your device chip against). Unfortunately did not see the sale on BestBuy.com so paid full price in store. Sales person at first told me not to get it since I had an Android device and there was a logo that said made for Apple. I looked at the JBL website while in-store and found it supports android 1.5 to 4.4 kitkat so if you are concerned it will not work with any android device never fear. My Samsung Galaxy S4 and my wife's S3 both connect with zero issues and there is a JBL app on google playstore.

Clear LOUD sound and "ok" bass . Sound is much better than what I expected and the lights are bright and the feature is easy to use via the free app. Just as good as an $250 Bose speaker with just a little less thump but well worth the money!

I bought a couple of Bluetooth speakers before finding this one. Each time there would be something about the speaker I hated & would end up returning. But I absolutely love this one! I bought it to listen to music off my iPod and it sounds great-you can take this speaker anywhere and the battery life is great! Plus it puts on an awesome light show :). Nice to take outside on the patio at night during summer.

I got a jawbone mini jambox earlier in the day and was very disappointed in the sound quality so I exchanged it for the JBL Pulse and it blew me away. The JBL Pulse was $80 more, but it was worth it. The sound is great even with songs turned all the way up there is no distortion. This speaker easily fills a room and the bass is pretty nice. I got my girlfriend the beats by dre pill for xmas and have not had a chance to try it out and compare it to the JBL Pulse, but even if the sound is slightly better with the beats by dre pill I would still prefer the pulse over it because the light show is very cool. You can even install an app on your iphone/ ipad to edit the light settings. I got this on Black Friday for $179 and the Beats by Dre Pill for $149, both run about $199 MSRP. I admit that this is more than I usually would spend on some portable speakers, but I'm hoping I get a lot of use out of it and overall I am very happy with this purchase.

I got the beats pill for Christmas, and found that it was a piece of overpriced plastic. It didn't work well at all. Couldn't play at high volume without distortion, very bad bass cracking let alone a good bass in general. I returned it to where my grandmother bought it (not at best buy) and did some more research and fell in love with this product. It's great. It sounds 100x better than the beats pill, costs the same price, and even has the LED lights going almost all the way around it. I brought it home and was instantly mesmerized by the lights and the quality of the sound. For the price, this is the best and most entertaining wireless Bluetooth speaker you can buy. I love this thing. The service at best buy was great and the transaction was easy too.

I used to walk past the JBL Pulse on purpose every time I shopped at Best Buy, just to play with it. This habit became a joke - "Hang on, I've got to go visit my speaker." So everyone knew that's what I wanted... and surprise! One day I opened a box, and there it was. I immediately plugged it in, linked it to my iPhone and downloaded the app to choose customizable light patterns. Since then, it's been in constant use and I love the beautiful visual effects. Most importantly, the JBL Pulse excels at the main purpose of a speaker - producing great sound with full bass, low signal to noise ratio and good frequency response range. I already had the Flip, so was familiar with JBL's good value and high quality - another reason for obsessing over this particular speaker. Fulfilled all my expectations and more -I didn't know about the customizing app before!

Has great sound, the effects are cool when we want them on, and being able to control stuff via the app is awesome.

Love the speaker; Love the sound; Love the ease of use. Only thing I don't love is that I can't adjust the volume low enough. Probably my phone's issue.

we couldn't get sonos to work at Christmas so we piped in the music with this little guy. great sound! A little spendy, but worth it.

I am a picky person when it comes to anything that produces sounds. I like a balance between bass, trebel, and clarity at any volume and this speaker meets it. I've heard other Bluetooth speakers that my friends have and those sound like oversized head phones. I researched this speaker while staring at it in the store and I can say I am very impressed. It's incredibly loud and it produces a powerful sound. The LED lights are also a great addition for any occasion and it is a great conversation starter. I will recommend this to everyone.
