    Not good value for money

I will be using my current UE megaboom as a comparison as it’s been a great speaker for the last 2+ years. First off I would like to make very clear that this speaker does not output the rated RMS when on battery mode. It seems to have caught a lot of people out like it did me. When I first plugged the speaker in I was happy with its output. I then took it to the beach and it felt like it was a lot quieter. After further investigation I noticed that output is halved in battery mode which explained the lack of power. So let me explain the differences Extreme 2 has only 20w RMS compared to the UE megaboom 36w RMS in cordless mode. Extreme 2 uses a proprietary AC power cord and power supply to charge which means no boost charging with a power bank or charging from phone chargers when you are not near power. Extreme 2 is considerably bigger than the Megaboom. Extreme 2 has to be pointed towards your listening area to get the full sound unlike the 360 sound of the UE megaboom. Extreme 2 has only a 15hr battery compared the the megaboom 20hr. Extreme 2 has exposed driver vulnerable to damage in back packs or just around the pool. Def not young kid safe as they like to poke them. Extreme 2 has worse Bluetooth range than the megaboom. I can’t walk down to the ocean with my phone with megaboom (50ft) and I get about (30ft) with the extreme 2 Extreme 2 costs twice what the UE megaboom costs. Not very good value for money. Extreme 2 warranty is only 1 year compared to UE’s 2 years. Extreme 2 does have slightly better bass output which I like but it has way too many downsides to make up for that. Conclusion. If you want a hard wired speaker to use in your home it might be a good option for around $200 retail. The Apple homepod would be a vastly better option at $300.

I've had an Xtreme for about 3 years. It is great for outdoor parties and the sound quality is very good. A friend of mine has a Bose speaker that we compared to this one and there was no difference between the two of them.

    Will not charge

The speaker sounds great. It’s been slightly over 60 days since I purchased it and it will not charge, at all. I’ve tried using the cord it came with, other cords and blocks. Nothing works. It won’t even work plugged in. Very disappointed as I have had these speakers in the past and never had an issue. I wish I could exchange it for another one.

We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your feedback. Here are some troubleshooting steps that can help isolate the issue with your JBL Xtreme 2. First, check the adapter and make sure that the rating is 2 amps or higher then power cycle by pressing and holding the power button for 30 seconds while the unit is not plugged into a power source, to see if the unit will unlock. While it's extremely uncommon, try to use another wall outlet to be certain that the issue is not with the outlet. Next, sand and dirt can get into the product's charging port. Clean the charging port with compressed air. If the issue remains, please reach out to our customer support at (800) 336-4525 Mon - Fri: 9:00 am - 11:00 pm (EST) Sat-Sun: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (EST) JBL

Worked great for about 2 years. Speaker stopping holding a charge and needed to remain plugged in at all times. Year 3 it just stopped working.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. You could try to isolate it by moving the speaker and source to a different location where there are no wireless network devices. Try to reset your speaker; With the Xtreme 2 ON, press and hold the VOL+ and Pause/Play buttons for 5-6 seconds. The Xtreme shuts down and is now reset. Pair it again to your device. If you have questions or concerns about your device, please contact our customer support for further assistance. JBL

While the sound is great, the battery life is awful. Have never gotten more than 5hrs and now only plays 30 minutes. JBL customer support is the worst I have ever experienced. Never again
