speaker is good but IT WILL NOT CONNECT TO ANY GENERATION BEFORE IT. got this as a party speaker to connect with the others i own, the party boost feature only works with the newest generation of speakers. that being said if you are getting this as a standalone it's not bad, but the price jump from the previous generation is kind of hard to justify, I've been buying JBL speakers since 2015, and they've put some good stuff out, but not allowing previous generations to connect to the speaker is kind of a cheap move, because i know they could easily make it compatible with the old versions being the charge 4 and extreme 2.

Someone stole my older JBL xtreme, so I had to replace it. I haven't been happier that someone stole something from me lol. Great battery life, handles all types of music great, and the updated usb type-c charger is so great.

Excellent portable speaker. If you want decent bass and good highs(mids are iffy but this isn't audiophile quality,It is meant to be powerful and clear)... You have found the speaker you want. Battery lasts 4-5 hours for me at about 60% volume.

This speaker was perfect my medium sized backyard barbecue. Great sound quality and bass. Even with the volume not turned up all the way I could still hear it from all corners backyard space. The speaker also has good Bluetooth range as I walked to the front door with my phone I was playing from there was no break in the music. Jbl speakers always have the best quality.
