We were looking for something for him to use with his Nintendo 3DS that are comfortable and have volume control. The JLAB® - JBUDDIES Over-the-Ear Headphones seem to fit the bill. I was worried they might be too small since he is a big 8 year old and wears a bike helmet that is for age 14+ (he has a big head). These headphones seem to fit him perfectly and he said they are comfortable. The blue color can be used for either a boy or a girl. The sound is great and there is a volume control so he does not blast out his ears. Overall, he is happy with them and they work as expected. Not sure how long they will fit him, but for now he said they are perfect.

Better for headphones in a quiet place like a quiet car or quiet bedroom. He complains he can’t hear them in restaurants or in noisier places. He’s almost 4 so it’s not like he expects it to be deafening. I’m not crazy about the inserts but that’s a person preference. We will have to upgrade the headphones soon

They do indeed have a decibel lower-er built in (85)db I would also check if you are using a tablet, that the tablet itself does not have a decibel lower-er feature currently enabled. We do cover these under a two year warranty, and if you believe you have a bad set, we'd gladly get it replaced for you.
