Juaquin Phoenix gives a career highlighting performance in this film as the titular character. However, comic book fans should realize this movie is not based on any particular comic book and is treated as a standalone film and story. If you like early Scorsese films, then you will have an idea of what this film is going for. The 4K blu-ray is a great release with excellent picture and audio quality.

The best DC movie in a LONG time. Even if you don't care AT ALL about superhero movies, this one is a must watch. It is dark, gritty, and gives a whole new dimension to the Joker story. The 4k Blu Ray is something to behold. Crisp, clean, beautiful Dolby Vision and massive sound. This is the way the movie should be watched at home. Blows away any streaming source.

Joaquin Phoenix did an amazing Job with his own interpretation of the Clown Prince of Crime “The Joker.” I wish people would stop comparing it to Heath Ledger’s Joker. Yes Heath was amazing at it, but if you can stop comparing actors and how they played the role, you can really see how Phoenix was just as awesome. And he deserves all the credit for it. Well done Joaquin.

first of all, this review is a little late. Either way at the time I purchased this movie, I'm glad I preordered it. I did a store pickup option and I got the steelbook edition with absolutely no flaws on it. I thought the cover, front and back, plus the inside was awesome. I have gotten dented steelbooks in the past and regret letting the return date expire. Never again!

This is not your typically Mark Hammil or even Heath Ledger type of Jokers. This really puts you in the perspective of someone dealing with mental illness and the hardships they can go through. The writers did a really good job of explaining how the character changed and why he made the decisions he did, while also making making you feel empathy instead of sympathy.

This is could Joker movie. You can cheer and villify all you want. It gives an origin story so well, I HOPE we can just role into other canon of Joker with out needing it. This film is so good, it could launch the Batman franchise if they choose to pick up where this one left. I just wish the story was not saturated with the other DC films that play around Gotham.

This is the type of film that makes you drop your jaw. I realized this was a masterpiece before I even finished watching it. It's that good. Joaquin deserves all the awards he received for this role. Better than Dark Knight's joker? It's different. If you have a slight interest in this, I'd say you have to watch it. I don't buy as many movies as I used to, but I knew I had to own this.

Not your average "Comic Book Movie" as it happens outside the DC Universe ..or does it. It's a bit closer to Scorsese's "king of Comedy" with a bit of "Taxi Driver". There are story points I could quibble with, but it's an effective film. And this is a stellar visual presentation with a few nice supplements.

"Joker" is a great character-study, featuring a great performance from the incomparable Joaquin Phoenix. The movie does well in displaying Arthur Fleck's troubles and even has the audience gain sympathy for him. Also, the movie is similar to the movie "Taxi Driver" in terms of structure and in how Bickle from "Taxi Driver" and Fleck from "Joker" are tortured loners who just want to be loved.

I was not expecting to like this movie - I'm not a big fan of DC comics but this one stood out. The acting is superb if somewhat disturbing. The plot was kind of predictable, but a twist got in that surprised me and that is always good. Script - good, Acting - Superb. Camera work - good. Plot - good. Information it provides to explain the world of Batman - essential.

Had to see this movie after all the hype. It's a possible origin story for the Joker staring Joaquin Phoenix. It's very loosely based on the DC comics batman series. The film is more of a guy driven to madness by society and inspires a cult of followers as they slowly start to destroy the city they live in. Great film with great performances.

Phoenix did what jared Leto wished he could do and it's crazy people thought Todd Phillips couldn't direct this movie not only did he succeed but set the dcu up very nice where will it go from here i don't kno but I hope birds of prey is at least half way decent after JOKER that's gonna be tough it's crazy de niro was it in becauyit had a taxi driver vibe to it shot gritty but beautiful in 4k

Dark film, but what would you expect for an origin story for the Clown Prince of Crime. I am not a fan of the superhero franchises but I appreciate the interpretation of Batman's arch villain. This film would fall more in line with Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, then the other superhero amusement/fantasy films. A more 'realistic' approach of an anti-hero.

Phoenix's performance is magnetic. Basically Taxi Driver Meets DC but wow does the movie nail the execution. The grittiness of the movie isn't going to blow you away on 4K but more enhance the dinginess of it. This movie is something I can only hope Hollywood does more often after this and Logan. Make a film that just happens to have a comic book characters in it.

If you're a fan of The Joker's famous comic book origin story, The Killing Joke, then you'll enjoy this incredible new spin on the iconic Batman villain. When Arthur Fleck is pushed to the breaking point, his already shaky hold on reality begins to unravel as the city of Gotham becomes a powder keg of tension, ready to explode as Arthur descends into the depths of madness.

I didn't get to see this at the cinema but don't feel I missed out on the big screen feel. The movie is a great origin take on the Joker and Joaquin Phoenix's portrayal was amazing. The juxtaposition of happy clown/sad clown, in the context of the character's story, taking on a deeper, layered and emotional impact than has been portrayed in previous movies where the Joker just 'is'.

If you didn't get the point of the movie you probably, weren't paying any attention to it. This Joker is "crazy" compared the Dark Knight version, which are both the best in their own right. (My copy didn't come with digital copy for some reason. I opened it and it had no redemption code paper just discs.)

Joaquin Phoenix kills it as the titular character that explores a possible origin for DC Comics Clown Prince of Crime. Backed by a strong supporting cast featuring the one and only Robert DeNiro, this movie has become a modern-day masterpiece. It transcends being a comic book based movie and becomes something else altogether. A definite recommendation for any JP or comic book fans.

A well done film, telling the story of Joker from the earlier days, pre Batman. Phoenix a standout in his Oscar winning role. Truly sick and twisted, so is this flick. Darkly and creepily shot, it has a gritty feeling to it, which enhances the entire production. I could have done with less of the Martin Scorsese film ripoffs (Taxi Driver, King of Comedy, especially) as those felt unnecessary, but this film stand on it's own. For me a better performance here as compared to Heath Ledger's job. Dark and moody, and somewhat disturbing, if this is your type of thing, I can def recommend it for those audiences.

This was a good take on the origin story of the Joker. Although he is a favorite villain of the Batman, you begin to feel sorry for him because of the situations he faces. As he begins to increase his influence, keep in mind that the people of Gotham are normally portrayed in a specific way across most media. If you are a fan of Batman characters and would like to see another Joker origin story, watch this and it you'll enjoy it. I would recommend this to someone who is used to scenes from GoT or TWD. It's not incredibly gory as either of those shows, but there is something along those lines for a few moments.
