as a long time comic boo reader i have always been super fascinated with alternate time lines. when done well they are excellent. DC has not always done them well in the comics as recently seen in Convergence which in my opinion was yet another over blown hyped up event that really delivered nothing. but this cartoon version of another time line where everything is different was amazing. to see so many long time characters used is so many different roles was exceptional. i enjoyed this DC movie more than most of the recent stuff that has been done. not to say they weren't good, but this was really good. hope to see more of this and less of them rehashing stuff that has already been done.

DC animation has done it again with this movie. They have been putting out direct release animation movies for some time now and this one fits right in. This movie also marks the return of Bruce Timm as writer. Most people will know him and how great he does the DC animated style. If you don't know him, look him up. He's one of the greats. And as always, there are great voice actors in it. This has a great story, so I don't want to spoil it for anyone, so I will leave it at that. So, final word is, buy it before it's too late. There is a special edition that comes with am exclusive figure also. That's the one i got.

As along time fan of not only the Justice League, but DC comics and animation in general, I couldn't help but purchase this movie. I can honestly say it was a great film. The storyline, although a departure from the characters previously established origns was excellent and the alternate versions of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are a great addtion to the established DC Universe. This film was full of action, intrigue, humor, and plenty of drama. All the marks of a classic in my book. The included figurine of Wonder Woman was a nice plus as well and the movie and it's packaging were in excellent condition.

    Great Original Story, Great Watch

Justice League: Gods and Monsters is the triumphant return of Bruce Timm to the DC animated films, albeit a deviation from the amazing DCAU that he is responsible for establishing since the 90's. Gods and Monsters is a great, self-contained story of an alternate universe with Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman being the strong powers that we know but very different characters with very different backgrounds, morals, and scruples. The plot is good fun, leaving the viewer guessing, the blu-ray video and audio quality is excellent, and the special features are always the icing on the cake. Definitely a must-have.

An Original & Surpisingly Good Take...

Bruce Timm has produced the majority of the DCU's animated projects for over 25 years. They've mainly been faithful to the source materials. However, this time, Mr. Timm has produced a new version of the classic characters. And, once again, he's succeeded in making it interesting. Without spoiling anything, this version of the JLA isn't altruistic. They're not afraid to flex their muscles for their own purposes. They believe in "the ends justify the means." Beyond that, you'll just have to watch this movie to see how that all plays out. You won't be disappointed.

For sake of the review, best buy experience and physical movie package itself I rated 5 stars because this isn't a movie review. For the movie content, I didnt like the movie at all. My 9yo son thought it was ok though. COMPLETELY new story, the problem was it wasnt all new content, the story included known story lines that they altered and changed as well as all new story lines. I don't want to give anything away but I personally didnt like the direction this story went or how they made some of the established characters actions. All my opinion of course, take it with a grain of salt.

In this original animated DC film, set in a alternate universe, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman are the JLA who protect the world by force. These heroes aren't what you're used too, each hero is a different person completely from what we know, with a new and unique background. Someone is setting up the JLA, but who? The public and the government start to turn on the JLA, because the murders of scientists are made to look like the justice league did it. Can they figure out who, or what is framing them? You'll have to watch to find out.

I bought this because I am a huge fan of Bruce Timm's work on Batman and Superman the animates series' and the Justice League animated series. The reason I am only giving this four stars is because I feel the movie is missing the optimism that characterizes those other works. I also own quite a few of the other DC animated movies that have been released over the years. I don't feel like this one is quite as good as The Red Hood, or Flashpoint. But it is much better than Justice League: War, or Throne of Atlantis.

very different play on the DC super heros.Bruce Tim's artwork is quite different from trhe normal TV and CB softness of the heros. The characters are almost compklete opposites to what you are use to and the leagye has shrunk to just 3 super heros who are not afraid to use any method avaliable to get the job done where the normal characters have boundries these 3 don't seem to be hindered by boundries. I enjoyed it as a new fresh idea and look. I've always thought the heros should have been more aggresive,

Justice League Gods and Monsters is a great movie to watch if you are a die hard DC fan. It is very different then the other DC movies. I gave the rating a 4 star because I feel as though the price could have been cheaper. They always make these movies more expensive every time they come out with the figure. The figure is bigger than the usual size of the figures you would get at Best Buy. Luckily they are starting to sell the movie with the figurine at their competitor's stores Target, and Walmart.

So it may take a minute to figure out some of the characters and subtle differences but once you do I hope you'll get a kick out of the alternate take on these classic icons, from Batman to Ray Palmer. I also liked how it all tied together at the end. No I'm not going to say what happens then those curious may not watch it. If you want more info read IMDB or other reviews. I will say I have been following DC cartoons since Batman of the 90's and this holds up to the classics.

I'm new to the DC animated universe, but I'm a long time fan of superheroes like Batman and Superman (who isn't?). So I picked this up because a podcast I listen to was talking about it. It's definitely not for the little kids because there is some blood and a few bad words here an there. I liked the story, thought it was interesting to try an alternate reality type thing where Superman is kind of an anti-hero. I look forward to watching more animated movies like this one!

Justice League Gods and Monsters is great movie and one of the best of the DC animated films. Because the movie has a great twist to our familiar and beloved characters. Its an elseworlds title (basically another dimension) in which the characters and their roles play out differently. Its great to see original ideas, as I am getting tired of just watching Batman (my favorite character) animated films. They need to do some Flash animated films, as Flashpoint Paradox was amazing! Or even some Deathstroke!!!

I have purchased a good amount of the DC animated movies over the years and what sets this one apart if the perspective of which the Justice League is portrayed in this film. Rather than the Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman that everybody knows already this movie changes up those characters with different background stories and a story that is on the more darker side than usual. I still enjoyed this new take and thin kit makes a good addition to the collection.

This movie was about a very different Justice League. Superman was not found by the Kents but by illegal Mexican immigrants. Batman is a partial vampire and Wonder Woman is from Apokalypis. The characters are very different from those we have known but I like it because of that. They are still ultimately trying to do good in the world. The storyline was a little lacking and the villian was a little weak but I found this movie to be pretty good regardless.

This movie is in the style like the DC Imaginary Stories of old or the more current DC Elseworld comics. A completely new original take of the DC Universe; like what if General Zods son was sent to earth instead of Jor-els and what if the Waynes lived happily ever after by staying home and not going to the movies that night and Kirk turned himself into a vampire instead of Man-Bat so therefore calling himself Bat-Man. Its just a fun and amazing movie, i highly recommend it.

The DCU movies are getting more and more adult in their themes and content. This is not something I would play on the TV and set my children down to watch. The profanity has increased, as well as the visualization is more intense. It is a good movie though and tells it's story rather quickly. It was not what I thought it would be. I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it, all I can say is buy it and see it for yourself it"s real good.

The fact that Bruce Timm himself did a lot if the storyboarding makes this movie feel like a Justice League episode. The animation even looks the part and nor the modern style like Batman vs Robin. The story was solid and the fact that it's PG 13 allowed them to play more adult dialogue and more hardcore scenes. I was gladly surprised and Michael C Hall (dexter) as this version if Batman was specially good.

Heroes we have grown to love are being rewritten, with all new history, details shifted, our heroes have an all new spin. Solid story Timm has created something totally different yet very much the same as we all love. It's a bit more adult theme so keep that in mind, overall yes buy this. The bonus figure is of the new Wonder woman, I just wish they kept the old scale and not tacked on 5 extra dollars.

The movie itself is quite good. It is very violent, not for young kids. The problem is that you are so familiar with Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, its a little hard to be immersed with these new interpretations, because you don't have any attachment to them. You just have to convince yourself that this not part of the DC Universe as we know it. the Blu Ray extras were very good and informative.
