This is my third try in headphones recently, and actually I took back Sony's XB-500 because the sound (for me) was not balanced, too much muddy bass. Yes, a better balance could be had by putting it through an eq, but my iPod does not have that and I don't think I should have to do that much tweaking to get great sound. These JVC's sound great right out of the box, and are fairly comfy too. They squeeze my ears just a bit, and since I paid so little for them, I may just bend the metal out a bit so they fit a little better. No, they don't have as much bass as the $300 Bose, but it is a very balanced sound in my opinion. And if they break after a year or so, no heart breaks over spending another $18 (on sale). Try them, you'll be pleasently surprised.

Ear piece broke first time used . Very thin small plastic piece holds ear speaker piece to head band. Turned to use position used 25 minutes, turned back to store and ear piece fell off.

They stopped working after two weeks. I had a pair of similar JVC a few years ago that lasted a lot longer, but eventually, also stopped working.

These headphones are the best you can get for the price. I highly recommend these. They are not completely noise-cancelling, but they shut out a lot of noise. They are extremely comfortable, and once again, the sound quality is great. In my opinion, these should be $40. I got them for $20, and they are a steal at that price. The one thing that I have noticed is the plastic is a little weak, and they seem like they could break if you don't store them in a safe place. However, I have had no problems.

i havent been this happy and boastful about a product in.. well, a really long time. i stumbled on this headset while shopping around for a comfortable set with good sound but ones that don't look ridiculous to wear in public. awesome find. they are not noise 'canceling' headphones but they come very close. i was able to hear my music perfectly while on a plane with the engine right out side my window. i also use them when i mow the lawn and the noise of my mower is reduced significantly. they do an excellent job muffling outside noise and don't even require batteries to do so! the sound is pretty amazing for such a small pair of phones. i'd say the bass is almost comparable to the much more pricey bose brand headsets, but at no more than $20 you have to..HAVE TO.. own these. i love them so much i went and bought a second pair to keep in case my pair break down in the years to come and i cant find them in stores at least i have another pair. as far as durability, they look like they are fragile. but if you're like me and take care of your belongings you wont have any trouble with them.

    They Kick!

These days price point is an important consideration for me. If I had the money, I'd buy an excellent pair of noise-canceling headphones. That said, these headphones are very comfortable to wear. I wear a hat size of 7 1/4" so my head is larger than average. Even though I have a larger head, the headband does not put too much pressure on my ears or head. I read previous reviews about the sound quality and volume. The previous reviews were not misleading. I returned a previous pair of headphones (different brand) that were more than twice as expensive, because the sound quality and volume were not acceptable. I was a little skeptical that these could be as good as the reviews said, but they are delivering in the areas of good treble, well-rounded bass and clarity. Volume? I had to turn my MP3 player way down from the volume I had had for the $50 pair of headphones that I returned. If you are low on funds and want really good sound quality, you will want these headphones. They Kick!

The BEST headphones for the money and more

I am a professional musician, and professional audio engineer. My top phones are the industry standard, Sony 7506- at $99. But these phones, are without question, the best earphones I have EVER used at under $100-- and at $20, they are simply AMAZING, and sound nearly the same as the Sony phones. The fact that they fold down relatively flat, extends the life, and when you sit on them, they won't break. The frequency response is FANTASTIC- low lows and high highs, and NOTHING NOTHING else comes close at anywhere near this price. In a pinch, I could do a very accurate mixdown on a session with these phones, no joke. One modification I've made, is to remove the donut ear pads, and fashion my own pads out of 1/2 inch heavy density foam from a fabric store. This provides a better feel and tighter fit than the stock earpads that these come with. I've bought several of these over the years, and god, please keep making these phones- because, since they are very lightweight, yes, you can break them if you squash them- but generally, they'll last for a good long time until you eventually step on em hard and need to replace them.

    so comfy and no feedback!

I got these mostly because the padding has an opening and not a close foam and they go around my ears and not directly on the canal area. Since I wear ITC hearing aids, the full foam pads can often press on them and make them buzz, ring and give feedback which drives me up a wall. These don't lay right on the ear opening so I pretty much no feedback. They fit my small head perfect and aren't too big even at the smallest setting so they aren't falling off! Finally! I like the padding and I love the fact that the ear pieces swivel! The sound is rather bassy which I would rather not have but I am not the best judge since my hearing is bad but I can tell the difference between these and the Sony full foam ones I have which are not very bassy. Hopefully I will get used to more bass since it is worth it not to have the feedback from my aids (for once!). One thing about these is that they are loud - normally I have to have my laptop sound all the way up and these I had to turn it down (even with the hearing aids in). The only thing I wish is that the plug would be L-shaped - the plug seems a bit filmsy and the straight ones tend to break more easily. But we shall see. I wish more company made th ear peces like this. It is nice and light and should be great for working out.

    Beats more expensive headphones!

Was reading the reviews here and from other websites and the good reviews convinced me to try this out. I've purchased average priced to high end headphones and for the price I paid for this one........it's been the best deal so far. I was hesitant to buy this headphone in the past because I was judging it by the price. My mistake, I purchased about 3 or more $50 headphones and earphones and I've returned them because of two, reasons. It's either the sound is not worth $50 or it is uncomfortable. The JVC headphone is a winner, because it is comfortable, it cost only $20 and the sound is great. One of the reviews I read is that JVC should have priced this more than $20......and in as much as I don't want any price increase, I guess I agree with the review.

I chose these headphones because I cannot use ear-buds. I needed a set of lightweight headphones for my Ipod. I liked the JVC name, the fact that they fold flat to store in my briefcase or laptop case, and the price was great. I was also impressed with the sound. A very good purchase. I went back and bought another pair for my son.

I recently broke my BOSE headphones that I've had for about 6 years and was looking for a replacement. I didn't want to immediately spend the $150+ on BOSE again, so I decided to try these out since they have gotten great reviews. Immediately after opening the package and feeling the headphones for the first time I thought they felt kind of cheap ($20, what do you expect). But after plugging them in and listening to some music for a bit I completely got over the cheapness of them. The sound quality is MUCH better than I expected, and they are very comfortable. I do not expect these to last as long as my old BOSE headphones, but if you take care of your stuff there is no reason these should not last at least a year or two. I would gladly take my chances with these (and if they break, I still saved $130 that I could use to buy another pair.)

When I first saw these headphones, and the $19.99 price sticker on display, I was somewhat skeptical about buying them because I was looking for a headset that had some good sound quality in it. At the last minute, I decided to go ahead and try this headset out to see how well they could handle. My ears were taken by surprise at the rich sound quality and deep bass that these headphones carried. It seemed like I hit the jackpot when I bought these on the first go-around. It's very unusual when you walk into a store and buy a new headset that doesn't cost much, but sounds as good as a $50-$100 headset. These JVCs are a must-buy in my book!
