I do not like these JVC Marshmallow Plus Noise Cancelling Wireless Headphone 'earbuds.' Nope. Not a fan. I'm well familiar with JVC, and their line of electronics and audio devices . I know the level of sound quality to expect, with the understanding of course, that different models (and types of devices) will produce differing levels of audio quality. These earbuds disappointed. There were a few good aspects, which I'll mention first. Pairing was easy. Battery life was nearly spot-on, as stated on the box. Plus, the size of the charging 'case' is small enough to easily tuck inside a pocket, purse, or backpack. But it was really the depth of sound that did stand out, specifically when listening to music. However, the sound, or rather, lack of good quality audio, while trying to hold a conversation, was sorely lacking, and was an undeniable downside. The person I was trying to talk to sounded far away, even with the volume all the way up (which is definitely not desirable). I'm also told that I sounded as though I was talking "in a tin can." Again, not a good thing. Noise-cancelling was iffy. I couldn't tell if it was working or not. I tried using both the 'default' more-on-the-medium side size memory foam ear pieces, but also gave the smaller ones a shot. I still felt as though the earbuds would fall out of my ears, even with adjusting them as the directions recommend. My experience was that the earbuds were not secure in my ears, and weren't at all comfortable to wear. Bottom line - I do not recommend these JVC Marshmallow Plus Noise Cancelling Wireless Headphone 'earbuds.'

The marshmallow thing is not great

Yes, sure the marshmallow tips are comfortable, but they really diminish the sound quality. When I first put these in and started listening, I though it was the weakest bass response I had heard in a set of earbuds in a long time. And that was with the "bass" mode enabled because I like bass. I did notice that they seemed to be sitting quite far out in my ears, even though the standard size (medium) tips that usually come preinstalled nearly always fit my ears perfectly. So I decided to swap the tips out for a different size to see if that improved the sound. The extra tips include three sizes of "normal" tips - the kind you find with just about every brand of earbuds with replaceable tips - and two sizes of the foam (marshmallow) tips. I tried the normal, medium sized ones first and they immediately sounded much better. Good even. But the whole gimmick is supposed to be the marshmallow tips, so I also tried the smaller size foam tips, and the sound quality got bad again. So you can go for extra comfort or better sound. I choose better sound. One other thing about the tips: I had similar foam tips on some earbuds I used a few years ago and made the mistake of wearing them during a workout. They absorbed sweat like a sponge, and it ruined them. I did not try that with these, but I would caution against getting them wet. And I would advise just wearing the regular tips because the sound quality is so much better. The noise canceling on these is pretty much non-existent. I toggled the noise canceling on and off, and the difference is barely detectable. So, as regular, non-noise canceling buds, these are fine, but then why are you paying for "marshmallow" noise-canceling buds?

I have used numerous wireless earbuds over the years and these JVC one are definitely at the bottom of my list. I'm granting it 2 stars for the sound output, which is on par with most earbuds I've used. I didn't really like the foam ear tip adapters. It sounded like it muffled the music a bit more than the regular, rubber ear adapters. I feel these earbuds are missing something structurally to hold them in your ear better. They stayed in my ears fine, but I didn't feel they were very secure. I started running around and I felt like they were going to fall out. The real deal-breaker is the "communication" of these earbuds with my Samsung Galaxy s22 Ultra. I first tried these out by listening to music via my YouTube Music app. It sounded great at first, then the song stopped playing. I thought maybe I hit something on my phone, or maybe accidentally hit a sensor on one of the earbuds. I opened up the YT Music app on my phone and the song started playing again. With the music playing, I put my phone down and was very cognizant about not touching the earbuds at all. Once again, the song stopped playing. I next tried playing a music video from my YouTube app. Again, the music started playing and it sounded great. After about a minute, the song stopped playing again. I opened up the app and the song started playing again. It stopped one more time before the music video was finished. I put these JVC earbuds away and tried my existing (different brand) earbuds. I played the same exact music video and it played all the way through without stopping. I tried my YouTube Music app and the song played all the through without stopping. I'm not sure what is happening with the communication between my phone and these JVC earbuds. It's not something I've previously experienced with any earbuds, but I definitely cannot recommend these JVC earbuds. There are much better options out there on the market.
