I got this DVD/VCR combo to replace a VCR that "fritzed out," last winter. These days, getting a DVD/VCR combo is cheaper than a new stand-alone VCR, so this let me put a DVD player on the extra TV that came my way. It has TWO Auxiliary ports, so I can plug the digital converter box into Line 1 on the back (Line 2 is in the front). This lets me watch TV on an old analog tube, AND record it. Setting the record time looks archaic, since you have to hold an arrow down, but the longer you hold it down the faster the counter goes, increasing by larger increments, so it's really pretty easy. Heads up: leave the VCR ON to record. Some VCRs want you to turn them off once a program is set, whereas with this one, you leave it on. DVD picture plays clear as well. Remote isn't anything extra, but it's pretty intuitive, and so does what is needed. I would buy this DVD/VCR again.
