Not a good purchase
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The headphones only lasted 2 weeks. I was sick when they stopped working & did not feel like driving to the store. So, with Best Buy’s return policy I will not be able to take it to the store for an exchange. Aside from this, the headphones should have lasted much longer than 2 weeks. I’m very disappointed in the quality of the headphones.

bass on a budget
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.the good: - Definitely no shortage of bass. If you're a basshead on a budget, definitely give these a listen. - Decent call quality when using the in-line microphone. - Super low price for what you get. the bad: - If you like a more balanced sound signature, you may want to pass on these. It's not so much a V shape (higher bass, lower mids, higher treble) that's typical of more popular headphones, it's more like an L shape...high bass, low everything else. - Some muddiness and distortion at higher volumes. Not horrible, but definitely noticeable. miscellanious: - on ear design - Some people may find that their ears get a little sore after long listening sessions. There's not a ton of clamping pressure but you can still feel it after awhile. - headphone cable goes into both ear cups instead of just one. overall: For the price, you could do a lot worse than these. They're certainly not hi-fi listening, but for $20 bucks (MSRP at the time of this review) you're probably not going to get much more bang for your buck. Not horrible and not great - 3 stars.

Sound quality was not as good as expected
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Thought the bass boost was going to provide exceptional bass levels to the speakers but it was subpar at best. Also I tried to return the product and was told I couldn’t because it fell outside of the return guidelines. Very poor experience all around.

Good Entry Level On The Ear Headpones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got these to let my daughter use and they fit that bill quite well. She is 3 and will probably damage them so I did not want to get here something too expensive. She can comfortably wear these although they are a tad big for her. I have tried them out as well and for the price the sound is actually pretty good! If you are in the market for some fairly comfortable budget headphones these JVC on the ears are a decent choice!

Poor quality
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The headphones work fine and fit fine. The problems after just one month of use the the wire that goes into the jack is already separating from it. It’s just not made well.

Good sound for the money.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We got these headphones to use for our portable gaming devices and they work well for that. For the games there is great depth with the background sounds along with the main activity of the games. The headphones have plenty of volume and will work great for traveling with the gaming devices. I also tried them on a few devices with music. The results to me are very good for the price of these headphones. The volume again goes plenty loud and more importantly does not get distorted as you get louder. I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 for compfort. The padding on the ears is great and no complaints there. The part that is missing padding for me is the top of the headphones. The hard plastic did not feel the greatest resting on my head. Some padding there and they'd be perfect. I would recommend these for anyone for travel and for anyone looking for privacy from their kid's hand held gaming devices.

Awesome, affordable headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use these at work for reviewing calls, and occasionally listening to music on lunch and breaks. These are perfect for my needs. The sound on these is good, and bass is definitely better than expected at this price range. Also, the portability of these is fantastic - they fold up and are easily put away in a desk drawer or a pack for travel. Highly recommended set of headphones!

Great sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These JVC headphones have great sound. The reason I did not give it 5 stars is because my ears do hurt slightly after wearing them about 30-60 minutes. It's probably a good reminder to take them off and take a break so not necessarily bad. The controls work well but I wish they were positioned a little lower on the wire. Overall, a good headset for listening to music on my phone and to use on my computer for videos or calls.

Surprisingly good mids, not much else
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These on-ear headphones struggle to impress. The bass, while heavy and loud, gets muddy at higher levels. The treble is the opposite of tinny and harsh, and instead sounds like it's coming from underneath a table. Despite all these faults in the sound quality, the mids are pristine, and of such quality that I found myself picking out instrumental parts that I had never heard, or heard once and forgotten, from songs I had on rotation for decades. The separation and cleanness of the midrange as compared to the bass and treble sounded as though I was in the same room with the rhythm guitarist, while the bass player was in the basement on a crazy big amplifier and the lead singer was outside singing at me through the window. As far as the construction quality and other parts go, the fact that the ear parts fold in somehow doesn't make the overall size that much smaller, plus the cord is really short, so I couldn't plug them into my computer speakers and lean back in my chair without having them get pulled out unless I used an extension cord. This set will probably live by my tv so my MIL can use it whenever she stays over and spends all night watching movies in the living room.

Good sound, but aging tech
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Regardless of how you feel about the headphone jack, there's no denying the fact that it is going away. Sure, most laptops still have ones but even tablets are moving away from it. So despite the great price for these JVC headphones, they still have limited use in today's world. But I'm assuming most people reading this review know if they have a 3.5 mm jack and thus, a use for these headphones. I got them for my kids to use on their Fire tablets and for that, they're perfect. My phone doesn't have a headphone jack and I've never used (or even taken the 3.5 mm adapter out of the box). I did use them for gaming on my computer to give them a whirl and I was pleasantly surprised with the sound quality and comfort. There's no noise isolation so the bass is a bit hollow and outside noise takes away from the audio quality, but truly, for what they are, they're great. They are comfortable to wear, they fold up for travel, and sound pretty good. My one big concern is my children taking care of them, as they seem a bit "cheap" and I only mention that as to build quality. But only time will tell. Bottom line is that, assuming your device has a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and you aren't a person looking for the absolute best sound, these headphones will do great, especially for kids. And I'm certain that for most people they are more than adequate.

Not bad for price. Possibly better options.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These headphones sound decent enough for 20 bucks. They’re a little bass heavy for my tastes, but using an EQ helps. No problems whatsoever so far with the microphone and that’s really why I wanted them. I use them to Skype on an iPad that still has a headphone jack and am told my side of the conversation sounds good. Admittedly, I’ve never been a huge fan of on ear cans because of how uncomfortable they tend to be and these are really no different. Anything over 45 minutes or an hour and my ears are pretty sore. Your mileage may vary. That said, they’re fine for what I need them for and while I have Bluetooth headphones that are very easy to connect, it’s still hard to beat just plugging a darn wire in and being ready to go. There’s nothing to charge, no buttons to press, they just bring the audio to your ears. Have not looked at competing options, but if there’s something in this price category with a little clearer sound I would be tempted to switch.

Lightweight headphones that sound good.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The JVC - HA SR185 headphones offer good sound quality in a lightweight package. They also fold flat for traveling and have a stylish appearance. I appreciated the packaging immediately. Unlike so many products today you won't need a box cutter to liberate the headphones from their packaging! The ear cups pivot easily and the adjustable head strap is easy to use. A quick caution - you can get pinched or get your hair tangled up if you try make adjustments while you are wearing them! The ear cups seem to favor those with slightly smaller ears. If that is you then you will appreciate how well they "seal" and help reduce outside sounds. The in-cord switch works fine although the overall cord thickness suggests that you treat it gently to avoid damage. Sound quality is good and the bass response is better than average. In summary - at this price point these headphones represent a great option for travelers or beach goers who want to have a decent set of cans to toss in their bag.

Just OK
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The JVC SR185 headphones are a basic set of wired headphones with microphone compatible with iOS, Android, and Blackberry devices. They are also preset to boost bass, if that's your thing. Overall, this is nothing fancy and a price to match. Sound quality is ok though heavy on the bass by design. The ear cups are a little stiff and may be uncomfortable if worn too long. Overall I give it 3.5 stars.

Overall Great Listening
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very good sound quality that you've come to expect from JVC! Adjustable headband & on-ear design fits almost any size & blocks external noise for immersive listening enjoyment. These headphones work especially well for watching movies on your laptop or tablet while travelling! Compact, fold-flat design is great for portability, as they fit easily in the side pocket of carry-on luggage or a laptop bag. Wired technology means that you never have to worry about changing batteries or remembering to charge your headphones again. "One button remote with mic" works well with both Android & iPhone for accepting calls & manages to block most external noise like wind.

Pretty dull
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I realize that these are low budget wired headphones, but the buds that came with my phone sound better than these. Adjusting the EQ on my phone actually made these sound worse. The highs and mids are very dull and the bass in uninspiring. The line in remote is fine but no volume control? I think that you could do better for the money.
