The print actually has gold metallic behind the black print with most of the case being clear. If you have the gold phone and you want to accentuate its beauty, this case is for you. It seems like it would have moderate protection from impacts. I have not dropped my phone, but I am comfortable that this case protects as well as other cases of the same type.
