I don't know why as all the messages are normal. After I make a cup, the lid message will tell me to keep the lid down and it will say "heating". Very odd. I wish I had gotten the more expensive model.

Wish I had purchased a different model

But there is no automatic shutoff function, which means it is often on all night in my office. The reservoir is also much smaller than I thought. In general I wish I had bought a different model, glad this was on sale and I did not spend as much on it.
