    Had microwave for about 2 years and it is not operating properly. You have to open the door to stop it and the start button does not always engage when pressed.

    Replaced the oven and dishwasher with KitchenAid Black Chrome unit, so I replaced the microwave with a matching unit. Works great. Lots of pre programmed settings.

    Numbers Peel & Totally Died in Less Than 2 years

    This is a terrible microwave. We originally bought this microwave in mid 2021. After a few months, the numbers on the keypad and start button started peeling and bubbling. We contacted Kitchenaid and they sent a replacement at no charge, which was great. I've had the replacement one since January 2022 so less then 2 years and it totally died on us the other day. In terms of the functionality of the microwave, it works great which is why it got 2 stars and not 1. However, after 6 months the buttons on the keypad for the replacement one started peeling and bubbled like the first. I didn't bother to try and get another replacement figuring that one was probably all they would do. However, it was absolutely horrible looking and for the cost of this microwave totally unacceptable that it had such a poor and obvious defect. Anyway, we dealt with the bad look as the microwave itself was good in how it cooked and so forth. That is until the other day when it totally blew and the service tech said it was the capacitor and would cost more to fix than replace. of course, not under warranty as Kitchenaid only provides one year warranty so now I am stuck two days before Thanksgiving with no working microwave. I have all Kitchenaid appliances so I am stuck whether to have one appliance not the same brand as others or suck it up and see if we get another lemon. Very frustrated customer.

    We bought this microwave to replace our 20 year old Whirlpool microwave that was installed in our cabinet by the home builder. It fit perfectly in the cabinet and we were able to use the same frame kit.

    Replaced same older unit with New model!

    Bought this microwave to replace the same, older unit that we had. It was great and lasted 12 years. Only difference I see is that the control pad is not as responsive as the older model. Otherwise good unit.

    Microwave broke in under 2 years

    We thought we were buying a great microwave. Including the cost of the trim kit, we spent over $800. However, after just over a year and a half, the microwave broke. KitchenAid does not make replacement parts for these models of microwaves, and because the microwave was over a year old, we are out of luck. The best that KitchenAid could offer me was a "loyalty discount" applied towards a new KitchenAid. So I just spent another $400 to replace a very young microwave. I'm incredibly frustrated. And, FYI, when I tried to order a replacement microwave through KitchenAid, the representative said she was ordering the exact same model. However, when I checked the confirmation email, I realized she ordered a black microwave, not stainless steel, and it wasn't even the right size. So I had to reorder another microwave and was charged even more. The sales representative was very nice, but be warned that your microwave might break, and the representative wasn't even careful enough to order the correct replacement. I wish I had ordered a Thermador!

    This is a replacement for our 17 year old previous KitchenAid microwave. Fit perfectly in the above oven space that was the home for our previous one. Has some additional features which are nice to have

    This thing is a worthless piece of garbage. After just about a year it started malfunctioning. Initially the button to open the door broke and it would intermittently get stuck. Then it started sparking with ANYTHING inside. We tried thoroughly cleaning it but that didn't help. Absolutely worthless.

    This expensive microwave is so quiet that a little light needs to be on while it's running. Great. Except that you can't even mute the buzzer/sound when the darn thing is done. You can't even turn it down. Heaven forbid you have a baby in the house you don't want to wake up. It's going back. C'mon Kitchen Aid, you can do better.

    Only lasted 2 years. Door open button was hard to operate from the beginning, didn’t want to go through the hassle of returning. For the price we paid we should have gotten more than 2 years out of this.

    Door won’t open with button

    We purchased for our new home in April and moved in three weeks ago. I’ve already had issues with the noise level when it starts and now the opening mechanism will not consistently work.

    Paint peeling off wall

    Purchased 10/24/14 The paint has been peeling away from the side of the microwave! DEFECT!!!! This paint is peeling away from the top of the microwave near the vent holes. A place that rarely gets touched! It has not been scratched. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT! KitchenAid/Whirlpool's response: We recommend you don't use it! Throw it away. KitchenAid/Whirlpool refuse to offer any assistance with their defective microwave! I recommend you not buy a KitchenAid/Whirlpool microwaves.

    Within two days of install the microwave is malfunctioning. Whenever the 30 second button is used to heat food the clock resets to 0;00. Super irritating. Why isn’t anything made to last anymore??

    Worked for exactly one year.

    Replaced the Bosch we inherited from previous owners and used for 5 years before it gave up the ghost with this KitchenAid. Got it November 2019 and it stopped working exactly a year later.

    Doesn't last long before breaking

    Do not buy this microwave. We got this microwave and its trim kit to go in wall above our kitchenaid oven. The first microwave we bought made it just outside of the warranty when it died. We bought a second of the exact same model because we needed it to match the oven we still had. Now this second one is having major problems and likely needs to be replaced. That is two microwaves in 4 years.

    Broken after 13 months

    Purchased 13 months ago. The button no longer opens the door. I cannot recommend a $500 (now $700) microwave that lasted only long enough to be out of warranty.
