I loved this frig.... countersunk into our wall for a seamless look. It was great with great space for a counter-depth and looks beautiful. First, the ice-maker started to become slower and slower, then stopped working. The bottom freezer drawer started to show signs of rust. Eleven months (Thanksgiving week!) the frig wasn’t keeping food cold enough. Lost almost all of our food. Eight service calls later, it was finally totaled and now I’m out looking for another frig that will not match all of the rest of my KitchenAid appliances.

We fell in LOVE with this fridge while shopping for our new home. I read all the reviews, as you are now and decided to ignore them. I was a moron. Within 3 weeks the ice maker stopped working. It's summer. It's Texas. I like cold drinks. This was $4K!!! After 3 technician visits (waiting up to 2 weeks to even GET an appt), we are now awaiting a new door for 6-8 more weeks. (I see this scenario happened to another reviewer.) PLEASE don't get distracted with the awesome interior. It's NOT worth it!!! Other than a kitchen aid mixer/attachments, I'm done with Kitchen Aid products. Customer service is polite, but they refuse to bring a new fridge, give money back, exchange for another product etc - it's just horrible. I expect more out of a BILLION dollar company.

Frustrating. Highly rated yet continuing to have repairs done to if.

We really love the design of this fridge, and we were so excited when we first bought it for our newly remodeled kitchen. It’s just beautiful inside and out! However, to our dismay, we started having issues with it 6 months after the purchase. And during the first two years we had to call our service team every 6 months for either cooling issues or loud noises coming from the inside. Had our food spoiled several times. The last cooling issue happened a week before Christmas 2019, and needles to say, we have been without the fridge for 2 weeks. It was determined that the cooling issue could not be fixed and we were approved for fridge replacement. The most disappointing part is that this fridge costs a $1000 more than we paid 2 years ago and by our 5 yr warranty contract we can’t have the same fridge if it costs more than we paid for it originally. We would take another chance with the same model though (we designed our new cabinets around it) if it wasn’t for the huge difference in price. But I don’t think I would recommend this fridge to others.

nothing but problems with the ice maker. It sticks and doesn't dispense ice. Have to take it apart and sometimes use a hair dryer to melt the iced up dispenser to remove. I don't recommend this refrigerator.

I purchased this gorgeous refrigerator in May of 2017. First the ice maker didn't work and they came out and fixed it. Then the refrigerator stopped working the next month. Best Buy was great and replaced the refrigerator in July with a new refrigerator. I have loved it for a year and it just broke again. They are coming to fix it next week. Save yourself the pain of throwing out all your food and doing without a refrigerator while you wait for repair.

We have only had for a few months and it no longer works. The refrigerator is no longer cooling. A tech came out to let us know that he couldn't fix it and now we are waiting on the Kitchen Aid warranty-referral provider to have time to schedule us. So, we will likely have no refrigerator for a week at least (because they have very few providers available to do warranty work in our area) and then it will be order the part or replace. Read the reviews carefully - at this price point, this should not happen.

I purchased this fridge from Best Buy in June of 2017. While it looks sharp, I have had too many problems to ignore. The cooling unit started to fail, making a loud noise and slowly bringing the temperature in the fridge up over a weeks time, 6 months after it was installed. Kitchen aid fixed it under warranty but we had to wait 3 weeks for their authorized contract repair man. The water filter sporadically leaks and has now warped the hardwood floor boards it sits on. The door handles constantly loosen up and are very difficult to retighten due to their design. Now it is just out of the 1 year warranty and the cooling unit they replaced 6 months ago is loosing power and can’t keep the actual temperature below 40 degrees. I will likely junk this expensive fridge after only 1 year of owner ship due to my frustration. Buy any other brand, please.

Just like what Chase wrote is the exact same thing that is happening to us. We bought it in July 2019(we were desperate and had to buy something quickly as our last refrigerator malfunctioned and caused a water leak while we were on vacation. Serious water damage to our home) and just before the warranty ran out the refrigerator would not keep cold. Replaced a part, worked for a couple of weeks then failed again. Now, they have to replace the evaporator. The repair person said that it is a known issue. Feeling stuck, love the aesthetics, but hugely disappointed in the quality for the price. I would love my money back to get something else.

Unless they've changed it, you cannot remove the glass on the large shelf to clean under it. I would not buy this again. Poor design.

If you decide to purchase this refrigerator, you need to make sure that you have a backup. There is a design flaw that freezes over the coil in the refrigerator and then it stops cooling. Service tech admitted that it is a problem and offered no solution except to turn off the refrigerator for at least a day to let it thaw. He also told me that it is most likely due to humidity level and the proximity to exterior door. I am now thawing it out for the second time in less than 3 months.

Like many other reviewers, I am having repeated problems with the defrost/internal freezing cycle. The inside defrost area behind the lower drawer become solidly frozen and won't melt during the defrost cycle. According to the repair person, the only way to fix it is to unload the refrigerator and turn off the breaker. Sadly, there isn't any power switch on the refrigerator! I don't know what people do who cannot easily access their breaker box. Ridiculous design. At this moment, my food is in coolers and the refrigerator has been off for 13 hours and there is still ice. I am very disappointed - this happens every couple of months. I expected much more from Kitchen Aid.

Ice Maker stopped working because the water supply line was not insulated (design flaw as it was described to us) had to have it replaced. took 3 different service appointments. Now, still less than a year after purchase, the compressor died. Whirlpool/Kitchenaide are not even repairing these refrigerators anymore. They are offering replacement of a lesser model or a buy back.

This was a wonderful but expose refrigerator that lasted 3 months before the refrigerator freezer & iceman completely failed simultaneously after three months. Kitchen Aide CS has been a nightmare trying to get in contact with a technician for repairs. Ice maker was sporadic at best even with weekly maintenance. This refrigerator, model Number KX4404608 was a big mistake. I hab=ve had multiple Kitchen Aide products but never experienced this kind of a perceived lack of quality assurance during fabrication of the unit.

It's a BEAUTIFUL refrigerator and I loved it for the 1st 6 months. Then it started failing. Everytime it froze up of LEAKED (lots of times) we had to get all food out, let it set for 2-3 days to thaw out & then plug it back in. Kitchenaid replaced 5 major components under warranty. Few months later, it quit again. We had to purchase another refrigerator as primary and use this Beautiful UNRELIABLE refrigerator in the garage as a spare that we can't depend on. It's so sad to spend $3800 for a refrigerator that didn't last 2 years !!

If you don't believe me, go to the KitchenAid website and view the same refrigerator. Even though it also has 3.9 stars there, that is because early users rated the refrigerator very highly. It is beautiful, but it isn't worth your time or money. We've had it for 1.5 years and we've had 3 major repairs. The first two were within the first 6 months of ownership, and it basically froze up due to a design flaw which made the whole unit heat up. The manufacturer had to come out 4 times to fix that problem. Fast forward a year, and we've been without our refrigerator for 6 weeks. Best Buy's Geek Squad sent out multiple repair companies who weren't even qualified to work on this unit, and then finally the manufacturer came out to evaluate it and has ordered parts that are now on backorder. The evaporator, the compressor and motherboard all need replacing. If we had to pay for parts and labor, it would cost as much as buying the refrigerator new. Best Buy has agreed to replace this unit for us. Buyer beware, this is not a sound investment!

We have had nonstop issues with the icemaker in this fridge. There is a known design flaw that cuts the power source to the icemaker. Every 6 months it goes out and we have had it repaired 4x. Unless you want to deal with this every year and purchase an extended warranty because KitchenAid won't stand behind their product, buyer beware and save yourself the headache.

This refrigerator is beautiful but has malfunctioned 8 times. Refuses to cool in the fridge section, freezer works. I have lost food and been severely inconvenienced 8 times over the past 4 years. All of my appliances are the high-end of KitchenAid (purchased from Best Buy)and none of them are worthy of repurchase (all purchased at the same time at the end of 2017).

This refrigerator came with a defective door. A new one was ordered but can not be made level with the other and is now lower a noticeable 1/4 inch. After a year the refrigerator defrost feature stopped working and ice jams led to periodic leaking water and grinding sounds. The repair man knew immediately the problem because it is very common with that refrigerator. The repair part is out of stock. KitchenAid/Maytag will buy back the refrigerator but after three phone hold times of 1-2 hours and a month of emails we finally got a dollar amount that included the price of the unit and tax. We are left paying delivery on a refrigerator that was never any good. Not going to buy KitchenAid or Maytag ever again.

It's not a counter-depth. It's 25" depth. It will stick out one inch.
