Customers are saying

Customers highly value this 24" Built-In Dishwasher's quiet operation and excellent cleaning performance. The third rack and ease of use are also frequently praised features. However, some customers have noted that the cycle time is longer than expected, and there have been some concerns raised regarding the soap dispenser and motor durability.

This is an edit. Good looking machine. Nice clean lines with flat surface and recess. Like the looks. Do not like the top rack. Agree with other reviewer(s) it's an afterthought. Maybe works better on other models. Will remove it. the dishes will not come clean unless using liquid additive. If door is opened during any phase of cycle, it will not resume cleaning. You will come down in the AM to a machine that still says "washing", but is doing nothing. You have to press "cancel" and start over, but sometimes will still not begin over. Wish I had bought a Bosh. Machine needs major improvements in many areas.

    PERFORMANCE DOES NOT MATCH REVIEWS

We bought this DW 4/2018 and have already had to have tech out twice. Soooo disappointed!! WE are currently trying to get it replaced. I do not understand how there are so many good reviews. IT DOES NOT CLEAN, no matter what setting. I have been saving a stack of dishes to show tech how unclean they are after deep clean even when rinsed thoroughly prior. TOP Rack is completely useless....almost nothing fits. Also Had to lower middle rack to fit basic cups so not much room for big pan on bottom rack. The buttons are in bad spot. Worst of all, THE SMELL IS HORRID. One of the techs we had out tried to blame it on my detergent even tho we had tried 4 different types with no improvement. Only positive is that it looks nice. Also, they dont tell you until arrive to install that if you have plastic hose for install they will make you pay $25 to upgrade to metal or they will not install.

we have had this for just over 5 years and it is already falling apart. The plastic on the inside is disintegrating and now it no longer actually washes the dishes. Would not purchase again and likely will not purchase another Kitchenaid major appliance.

    DOES NOT DRY WELL

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this dishwasher a while ago. I did a lot of research and came across some reviews mentioning that it does not dry the dishes. When I mentioned that to the salesperson, he said it was because they didn't know how to set it properly. Well I've tried every setting and combination of settings but everything still comes out wet. I have to hand dry everything when I empty the dishwasher. What a pain! I thought buying an expensive, high end product would be better but I probably would have gotten better results with a unit costing half as much. Lesson learned.

    Spotty washing, and wet dishes

We love the way this dishwasher looks in our kitchen and we love how quiet it is, but are not happy with the performance. Most of the week there are only two of us here. Unless you run the dishwasher every day you'll have to rinse the dishes before you put them in. Otherwise the appliance smells when the door is open and the dried food on the dishes doesn't wash off. Even when the dry cycle is engaged, we need to dry the dishes before we put them away. Plastic parts that we believe are intended to keep the racks secure melted. We found them -- as plastic lumps -- in the bottom of the washer. This is a huge disappointment. It's almost easier to wash our dishes by hand. The dishwasher this unit replaced was loud, but it did a quality job. We will be contacting the manufacturer.

    Pump Leaks

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Looks like the pump on this has had a leak and has cause damage to my finished basement underneath. Now I have to hand wash everything until i can get it fixed and my daughter has a 15 food allergies. Have had the thing less than 5 years so this shouldn't happen. Also we pre wash everything before it goes in so really shouldn't happen.

Stopped working in less than 2 years

I bought this new in January 2020. It worked well, if slowly, until November 2021 right before Thanksgiving. It then started to not clean anything (just getting the dishes wet). After making sure nothing was clogged or improperly selected, we called Geek Squad. They guessed it was the motor or the pump, and a tech came out and he thought it was both, and also *maybe* the control board. Not good for a basically new product! So it has become a useless lump in our kitchen for the past 2-plus months as we have worked to get a replacement (which has been a real chore due to Geek Squad's failures, but that's another review).

We bought this dishwasher to replace a 13 year-old GE that was noisy, but reliable. After 4.5 years, the motor went on this unit. KitchenAid was no help at all. No warranty coverage - for a motor! - no standing behind their work. Diagnostics and repairs cost almost as much as the original unit. No more KitchenAid for us. Used to be a quality brand. Suggest avoiding it unless you want to buy 2 dishwashers in 5 years!!

    My dishes smell

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We bought this washer 1 1/2 years ago. The motor recently went out. Kitchenaid was great about replacing the motor about one month ago. However, our dishes stink. This has been an ongoing problem since we got the machine. They smell like rotten fish. We have done everything- used vinegar, used Affresh tablets, made sure the filter is clean, checked the drain hose. The 2 kitchenaid repair men that came (one to tell us the motor was broken and one to replace the motor) have no idea why it smells. We have even talked to plumbers. I would hate to have to buy a new dishwasher when this one is less than 2 years old.

This model has a history of faulty discharge design (check on the Internet). Ours failed and damaged our wooden floor. Had to replace floor. If you buy, purchase an extended warranty that covers incidental damage. Best Buy service is great to deal with, but just don't buy this dishwasher.

    Very disappointed in KitchenAid

This dishwasher has been nothing but pain since I bought it 4 years ago. The door hinge mechanism broke twice and had to be fixed once in the middle of the pandemic. We could never get rid of sop residue and had to switch from soap tabs to gel just to keep the dishes clean after the wash. And now the top basket just broke which means I have to replace the whole thing. DO NOT BUY THIS BRAND.
