Second dishwasher in 22 years. Very difficult to beat this record.

This dishwasher has given us problems since the first day. Whirlpool/KitchenAid did our initial repairs. At first it seemed better but then continued to intermittently leak. We subsequently had a big leak that seeped into our finished basement. Multiple Geek Squad visits later and unfortunately it continues to leak. If we use the basic wash cycle and avoid all the fancy and useful features it only intermittently leaks (about once a week), which we must handle with a water alarm and dishtowels that are placed under it after each use. We have a nice home and the setup with the water alarm and dish towels are not the look we were going for (LOL). Most recently I’ve spent probably four hours dealing with multiple supervisors on the phone in addition to the multiple repair visits that are scheduled in five-hour blocks. Today I was scheduled from 12:00-5:00 and took the afternoon off from work. When the repair person never showed up, I checked my security camera and saw that the repair person showed up at 10:30 am. This is a total disrespect for people’s time. I am an Elite Plus member and have spent thousands on high end appliances, TVs, computers, etc but it doesn’t seem to matter. One supervisor even agreed with me that at this point it’s probably best to save my time and risk to my home and just buy a new dishwasher, even though we have a couple of years left on our warranty plan--which is sad. We have other KitchenAid products that work just fine. It’s probably just a defective unit, which happens, but unfortunately the response from KitchenAid and Best Buy has been disappointing. If you have a defective unit, plan to spend a lot time waiting for repair people that may or may not show up, and when they do they won’t figure out the problem and you will be stuck with a leaky dishwasher that they refuse to replace. Save your money, time and aggravation on the warranty. It would be better spent on hiring an independent repair person if needed.
