Customers highly value the 24" Built-In Dishwasher's quiet operation and excellent cleaning performance. Many appreciate its ease of use and the ample capacity for dishes. While some users mention longer cycle times and sensitivity of the control panel, the positive feedback on cleaning and noise levels outweighs these concerns.

Awful machine

Had a terrible experience with this dishwasher. The first one was installed on Jan 3. Water went in and drained out, but no signs of any washing taking place. Tried every cycle possible and dishes were still dirty every time. There were no sounds of water swooshing, etc. Soap was caked in dispenser and caked to bottom of dishwasher every time. Inside of machine was soaking wet with condensation at end of drying cycle. Best Buy gladly arranged for a replacement over the phone and the first one was picked up and second machine installed on Jan. 11. Installers actually let it run 20 minutes and they also concluded it did not sound like it was working correctly. Installers said it was the fourth machine with similar problems they had dealt with for this model in a two week period. Since it was already installed, they had me keep it and try again to see if it would clean anything using any cycle. Same issues as first machine. Went back to Best Buy store and picked out a different Kitchen Aid model (KDPE234GPS) which of course cost more. It was installed Jan 25. So far it seems to be working. So went over three weeks with no working dishwasher. Best Buy was great about the entire situation. Processed each return/exchange without hesitation. Each installation team was on time and did a great job. Not Best Buy’s fault- Kitchen Aid had a faulty product. Would not recommend this model to anyone. It is possible it was just a bad lot that the Dallas Best Buy stores received. Note: Did lots of research about dishwashers and have had two different Kitchen Aid machines over the past 20 years. The second one only lasted 8 years and had a control panel replaced after only 4 years. All dishwashers are terrible nowadays, including Kitchen Aid. Nothing like the machines made 20 years ago, so don’t expect it to be like the “one that lasted 20 years.” But Kitchen Aid at least still has a heating element to help dry dishes. I considered Bosch, but the cost was more and machines use condensation drying and lots of folks complain about an odd chemical smell due to the insulation material.

Works for our purposes but the plastic parts on the top rack keep breaking. I have to buy replacement parts (WPW10195840, WPW10588164, WPW10250162, WPW10195839).

Horrible Dishwasher

Purchased dishwasher 2 years ago and it has to be replaced. Problem with control panel. Front controls are very sensitive, you can brush by the dishwasher and it starts the dishwasher. The top rack wheels broke shortly after purchase. Bottom rack comes off tracks very easily. Dishwasher also smells. Will never buy another kitchen aid dishwasher again.

Sadly, awful experience with this dishwasher

I had to buy a new dishwasher after my 10-year old dishwasher broke down and I was bummed because it worked so well. I spent a month researching dishwashers and wanted an upper-mid-level washer. I bought this model on 3/10/2017 from the Best Buy in Greensboro. I had no issues with buying/delivery/install.
I am using the recommended Cascade Platinum dishwasher soap. The problem I have is that it does not get my dishes clean. Also, another big issue for me is that it is not getting my dishes at ALL dry. I have tried multiple different setting combinations and different soaps over the past few months. If I wash the dishes and do not open up the dishwasher within a few days to unload them, my dishes develop mold.
In order to make my dishwasher useful, I have to pre handwash the dishes so that they are mainly clean, then unload the dishes when they are done onto a dry rack to air dry, then put them away. Because of this, I have resorted to hand washing the dishes. It's just easier. If anyone has some advice on how to make my washer function better, please let me know... I feel like I am the outlier here since most of the other reviews are positive. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong or if I got a faulty machine.

Started itself

Because the buttons were in the front the dishwasher, it started itself every time I'd washed dishes the night before and I reached for coffee on the counter above. The slightest brush or press on the panel activated the dishwasher and my dry, clean dishes got wet. I exchanged it for an LG that had buttons and an actual Start switch on the top of the door.

Very quiet machine, but...

Very quiet machine however dishes, glasses and silverware are not always clean and must be rewashed by hand.
The door sometimes opens by itself and stops the cycle, then you must cancel and restart from the beginning.
The water filter is easy to clean and works OK.
I would not purchase this machine again.

Not as good as older model. Water holes in arms keep getting clogged. The middle arm is now warped and hitting things. Repeated standing water. Have had over 3 service visits in the two years we owned it. You have to wash your dishes thoroughly before you even load them--any thing left on like egg or pasta will be glued to the plates

Worked well for the past 5 years. However, a few months after the warranty expired it broke down. Pump and motor gave out. I had to buy a new one.

Died after only 3.5 years

I would have given this dishwasher 5 stars up until 2 weeks ago when it suddenly stopped bringing water in during the cycle. Over two repair trips, the tech replaced the water valve and the control panel before pronouncing the machine dead. Extremely disappointing after only 3.5 years of use! I will not buy a KitchenAid again based on this as well as the repair tech’s recommendation to avoid their dishwashers.

Don't Buy Kitchenaid!

While this dishwasher was indeed quiet and did clean the dishes, the hardware is pure junk. The plastic roller wheels on the bottom rack broke off one by one. An online user recommended a hack using stainless steel nuts and bolts from the hardware store. Then the top rack rail plastic disintegrated and all of the ball bearings rolled out. After $150.00 of repairs, it was working fine. Then, the other rack rail did the same thing. This dishwasher was purchased 6/27/14. KitchenAid Customer service is the worst. They said I must be frustrated (that their product doesn't work). They would, however document my compliant. The parts are clearly defective and certainly below my expectations of how long an appliance is expected to work.

It's OK, seems flimsy

We've had this dishwasher for 2 weeks. It looks very nice, interior and exterior, and cleans well. Interior appears to be stainless steel. It seems like it's very flimsy/cheaply built though. Racks "fly" out when you pull or push them. The upper racks do not hold cups upright, and are spaced too far apart to hold sippy cup lids upright. Bottom rack also lets dishes wobble around too much. The plus is it's quiet and seems to do a decent job cleaning the dishes. It's definitely an entry level model, but I expected more for the price. We bought the 5 year warranty and I expect to have to use it.

beware of front sensor controls

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Pro: it's whisper quiet
Cons: it doesn't clean the dishes any better than my 20 + year old rusted out model that it replaced. And although both had front controls. This models front controls are more of a "sensor" than the push buttons on my old dishwasher. So every time I brush past it with my tummy or hips it starts and I end up having to push the cancel button 10+ times a day. Although I am extremely happy (as always) with Best Buy in store sales, professional delivery and installation, I wish I would have done more research before choosing this particular model.

I finally splurged and bought a Kitchenaid dishwasher and I was so excited. However its horrible. The dishes are dirty and wet after the 2.5 hour cleaning cycle. There is food in my cups and the dishes are wet. I contacted Best Buy and they would not accept a return after 15 days. I tried to return after a month because it took me a bit to see that it consistently didn't clean the dishes. They should have be VERY clear that returns need to be made before 15 days. I spent $600 and the diswasher doesnt work AT ALL!. I have a kitchenaid person coming out on Thursday but I don't know how they could possible fix it, it's a lemon which is why I am guessing it's on sale for 299.00 now. I am so dissapointed and frustrated with Best Buy and Kitchenaid. I will never buy an appliance from Best Buy again.

I rarely write product reviews, but this machine is just awful. My 20 year old Kenmore did a better job. Tea mugs come out dirty like they had never been washed, half the time dishes are wet even with the heat dry cycle, silver frequently is unclean. Have soft water, have tried 4 different Cascade formulas, as well as Oxyclean dish soap and get the same result every time. Really wish I'd never bought this thing and that 0 was in the rating scale.

Diswasher Went Out

I will not recommend any Kitchenaid diswahser. I bought the dishwasher and yesterday all the lights went out. The manufacture's warranty covers only 1 year. I am outside the warranty. Kitchenaid charges premium for the diswasher but does not offer premium quality. Called Kitchenaid and it seems like their objective is to sell a new warranty plan. Be very careful when buying. I did end up buying another warraty from them. Horrible product!

Within the first few months the detergent door broke off, it has never cleaned well unless we thoroughly rinse and use a higher setting, and after less than 5 years of ownership the plastic top shelf brackets have snapped. I do not plan to purchase another KitchenAid dishwasher or related brands.
It's only redeaming quality over the years is it's quiet.

Horrible Dishwasher

I purchased this new dishwasher as a replacement to an old but operational dishwasher. The first one would not go into a wash cycle, but would drain the water and dry the dishes. Contacted Best Buy and they had the installer come back out to look at it. He determined the dishwasher was faulty. Order another of the same model that came 5 days later. Another technician came to install it and the SAME THING happened. Going to Best Buy tomorrow to get a new dishwasher but it sure will not be this one!

Just over two years old and broken

My first KitchenAid came with the house and was over 20 years old when we bought a new one. The second one lasted 6 years before we replaced it during a remodeling of the kitchen. It was working fine. The one we bought for the new kitchen is not working after just over two years. The service technician says $75 to walk in the door plus a minimum of $65 labor plus parts. Very disappointed.

This dishwasher never washed well. We had to set it on Tough, SaniRinse and High-Temp Wash to get anything even approaching clean and we *still* had to wash four to six dishes by hand. After two or three years, it just stopped working. We were not happy because it was not a cheap appliance when new.

< 2 Years and Machine is Dead

We purchased this dishwasher less than two years ago and the water pump is broken. Based on cost to repair, the technician advises that it would be better just to buy a new machine. Major appliances lasting less than 2 years is unacceptable.
