I rarely feel the urge to write reviews, but this dishwasher is absolutely remarkable. I’ve been using it daily for about 2 months now and grow fonder of it each day. First and foremost it actually cleans dirty dishes! No need to prewash or rinse off plates if you don’t want to, it takes everything off. Even dried egg yolks. Does it clean charred oven trays? Not completely, but pretty darn well. Second, it’s very quiet. The sounds you do hear are pleasant; some minor muted pings and faintly rushing water. I sit in the kitchen while it’s running and feel relaxed. That’s how good it sounds. Third, the interior racks are well laid out and fit an array of dishes and containers with ease. The top rack has an adjustable height feature, which is useful, much more so than a third utensil rack most other high-end dishwashers flaunt. The build quality is solid and feels like it has endurance. If I had to complain about anything it would be the keypad and the detergent tray. Both are good, but take a special touch to make them work. The keypad has the tactical sensation of a gas station pump where you have to press the button really hard to get it to register your selection. The detergent tray has a lid that slides and locks in place. It requires you get the lid in exactly the right spot for it to lock. Again, it works but takes a special touch to master. Those are the only two complaints I can squeak out if you twisted my arm for a forced complaint. Other than that I would buy this dishwasher again. Hopefully I don’t jinx it with this stellar review, I expected it to last at least a decade. If don’t hear from me before then it has.

Washes great, BUT DOES NOT LAST LONG!

I’m glad I waited a few years to write a review because submitting a review after installation is useless to a consumer, even a few months doesn’t help. Purchased Nov 27, 2020 and now the motor and other parts need to be replaced. Long story short after only 4 years we are in the market for a new dishwasher and it won’t be another Kitchenaid. It’s cheaper to buy another than to repair. My cheap GE dishwasher with no bells and whistles lasted way longer than 4 years.

Bought and installed 6 weeks ago. Can't believe how quiet it is, what a great job washing & drying. So glad that I chose this over the lowest priced Bosch!

    Doesn't get dishes clean

I am very disappointed in this dishwasher. It simply won't get our dishes clean. Every now and then we'll have a load that works well, but most of the time we need to rewash at least half of the dishes. Sometimes we even need to re-run the whole load. It's very frustrating. I have tried cleaning out all the traps, putting in more rinse aid... but it still doesn't help. Also, the control panel is impossible to read in low light conditions. Pros: it's not too loud

    Great Dishwasher

We purchased this dishwasher to replace a 26 year old Kenmore. The unit does a fantastic job cleaning dishes and silverware. The top rack allows tall wine glasses to fit on the side. It is also very quiet, allowing for comfortable conversation right next to the dishwasher while it's running. I would definitely recommend this to a friend for purchase.

    Motor broke after 2.5 years

For a high end dishwasher from Kitchen Aid, this is a poor quality. After less than 3 years of normal use, it broke. I had to spend $300 to replace the circulating pump. I called several kitchen aid service centers and they said that this is a common issue and they have replaced so many of these pumps. Also, more often than not, the detergent tablet never comes out of the plastic case and thus the dishes never get clean. One good thing about this DW is that it is very quiet. I had GE dishwasher before and it lasted 21 years and not a single issue.

After 1 year, not so great

I've had this dishwasher for just over a year. The first year it ran well, but now every single load comes out dirtier than it went in. The 2 sets of spinning fan blades that spray water have tiny holes that clog easily. Too easily. A poppy seed is all it takes, or a partial onion slice. It shouldn't require repairs this soon. In general, it doesn't even come close to how well our old dishwasher cleaned (Kenmore Elite super quiet). Also, the dish layout doesn't hold as many dishes, either, which is odd. Also the filter panel at the bottom has already warped from using heated dry (it's made of plastic, of course). Noise-wise, it actually ends up quieter than our 39db model, which was almost totally silent, and then made several large jarring sounds every so often, which was far more noticeable than just a rumble. Still able to watch TV in the background. Worst part of this dw is the display panel. Even with all the lights on in my kitchen, I still cannot read a single word on the panel without squatting close to the panel. No, I'm not old or blind. What a truly dumb design to use light gray text on a medium gray background.

    Great Dishiwasher

Our KitchenAid of 20 plus years bit the dust so we went shopping for a new one. Read all the reviews and even compared several brands at the stores. Thought about going for a middle of the road ($500-$700) dishwasher but felt "you get what you pay for" and the last KitchenAid lasted 20 yrs. We did not want a 3rd rack because we needed the room for tall water bottles that need to go on the top rack. KitchenAid was the only dishwasher with a Stainless Steel wand on the base. This one fit the bill perfectly. Got it home and installed it myself because the closest Best Buy was 2.5 hrs away so they would not deliver. HIGHLY recommend buying the install kit. It has everything you need for a successful install. The other reviews were right about how quiet this thing is. You can hardly hear it running. Dishes come out super clean. I don't pay attention to the length it runs because I usually just run it at night and its done in the morning. I would definitely buy it again.

I've had this dishwasher for just over 3 years and I wish it would die so that I could feel comfortable replacing it. I think it may have worked well at the beginning, but for the past 2 years it's done a horrible job cleaning. I have to clean (not just rinse out solids from) bowls and have taken to putting them in the top rack in an effort to get them clean. Utensils and glassware have to be inspected after washing to see which have to go back in. Don't buy this dishwasher.

Hit and Miss... Wouldn't Recommend Buying

This dishwasher is hit and miss. Does not always get the dishes clean... seems like the water pressure is not always consistent... have had for 3 years... some days the dishes are spotless after no rinsing at all... but some days it doesn't clean the dishes very well at all, leaving food particles, and stains in cups as if no water touched the inside of the cup at all.

It has already broken down twice since we owned it (less than 3 years). Once repaired under warranty and the most recent not under warranty. KitchenAid custom service said parts were still covered (not labor). But apparently not all parts. Of course the part that needs replacing is not covered and it is one of the most expensive parts you could buy. Half the cost of the dishwasher. Plus labor we are in the repair for $480. This KitchenAid product is high end garbage. No other way to describe it.

    Worst Dishwasher

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Kitchenaid products have definitely gone downhill in past few years. This dishwasher does not get dishes clean even after two cycles and rinsing off the dishes before I put them in. Have tried cleaning the machine once a week, and many different types of dishwashing detergents and finishing rinses. I have also reduced the number of items in the dishwasher. They still don’t come out clean.

Great for 3 years until it stopped pumping water due to circuit board malfunction. Not paying 3/4 of a new one to fix something that is only 3 years old. Can’t recommend this product or it’s manufacturers.

I will not buy another kitchen. I bought mine...top of their line 5 1/2 years ago. For most of that time, the dishes cleaned, but there was a smell to it...and last week it broke. Had the repairman out...the motor had died. He said the smell was a long time thing and that he had seen it on others. I checked online and sure enough class action lawsuits for the sump motor..just like mine. I called Kitchen Aide...and they wouldn't stand by their product. I'm not going to sue them for the $550 that it would cost to repair, but I'm also not buying a kitchen aide to replace it. Just bought my new Bosch dishwasher. What a pleasure.
