The Whirlpool still works but I noticed that the dishes are not getting cleaned properly. This KitchenAid cleans dishes and utensils really well. The install was fairly straightforward. Just follow the directions. Attention KitchenAid: If a customer is going to pay over $900 for a dishwasher, consider including a strain relief connector in the parts kit and save us a trip to the hardware store!

I have been happy with the performance - for the most part, the dishwasher cleans and dries dishes very well and is fairly quiet. However, I recently noticed that the PrintShield finish on the front of the machine is beginning to peel off slightly at the bottom. I contacted KitchenAid about this and was told that this is a cosmetic issue and is not covered under the warranty. Given that this is a $1300 dishwasher, I think it's unacceptable that the finish is peeling off this quickly and that KitchenAid will not fix the issue. Based on this, I would not recommend this dishwasher, at least with the stainless steel PrintShield finish.

ProDry is very good for plastics but not perfect

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My number 1 priority was to find a dishwasher that didn't require me to dry the dishes when it was done. The KitchenAid ProDry feature seems to be the best option to accomplish this requirement. While some plastics still require a wipe down, they are mostly dry. The heating element makes a big difference here and I was happy to sacrifice some energy efficiency to get it. The only complaint I have is that oversized dinner plates don't sit well in the bottom rack. They end up falling over. While still functional cleaning the plates, we're concerned they might end up getting broken being moved around during a wash cycle. Time will tell. As for purchasing from Best Buy, I originally ordered the same product from Costco but it arrived damaged and they were then out of stock. I had to come to Best Buy to get this and it ended up being almost $400 more expensive. The cost of installation, purchase of the dishwasher kit, and haul away were the difference. I was very disappointed that BB was so much more expensive for these "add-ons" that are included with Costco appliances.
