    Dissappointed

This dishwasher loses parts which have to be put together again. It's like a jigsaw puzzle! If the small plastic parts fall on the pipes that generate the hot water/steam inside the appliance, then they get burnt. Did I forget to mention the normal wash cycle takes over TWO hours to wash and dry? I've had the dishwasher for over 4 years now. The soap dispenser has now broken and needs to be fixed. Fortunately, I bought the GeekSquad 5 year warranty plan and am trying to schedule the In Home Tech Repair. Bottom line is, they don't make products as durable as they used to. So don't overpay for the appliances and expect to have them replaced in about 6 or 7 years.

PIECE OF JUNK, DOES NOT WASH OR DRY

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The dishwasher does not clean/wash, does not dry, and does not perform at all. The instructions said for best results use pods. It does not discourage from using gel or powered detergent. The dishwasher takes over 3 1/2 hours for normal cycle. It takes longer because, according to the manual, it uses less energy. However who has over 3 hours to wait for clean dishes when these days everything is done in nano seconds with an app. This is a piece of junk disguised with nice design, shiny sterling silver and handle. But truly a hunk of metal with options that you don’t need such as delayed washing for 2,4, 6 hours. I would just prefer a simple dishwasher that does what it’s supposed to do: wash and dry dishes. I am sorry to say the “Made in America” label is a sticker that’s slapped on a product and charges more for a non performing appliance. I hope I can return this product, although the previous reviewer Mike wrote that Kitchen Aid does not stand by its products. Very disappointing that Best Buy doesnt know that this item has been discontinued due to malfunction and still offers it to customers.

Does Not Dry - Water Everywhere

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

After extensive research, we purchased this dishwasher in hopes of having an excellent experience based on consumer reviews, however our experience has left us questioning the quality of this dishwasher. We have had the dishwasher since January 19th of this year and not once has this dishwasher dried properly. Since it remains wet inside, the dishwasher has developed a moldy/musty smell which is very strong once you open the door and this dishwasher has only been in use for three weeks. We have condensation and water droplets ranging from a bead of water to approximately an inch in diameter coating every stainless steel wall, inside door, and bottom of the dishwasher. This foul smell is due to the residual water remaining in the dishwasher. This stagnant water will lead to bacteria growth and will possibly leave us with contaminated dishes after a cleaning cycle has been performed. We have used the pods and rinse aid recommended by Kitchenaid. Our experience with this dishwasher is that regardless of the cycle which we select combined with using the heat dry or extended heat dry options we are left with wet dishes and the entire interior of the dishwasher remains wet too. Water is not leaking nor is it pooling at the bottom, so it does not appear to be a drainage issue. We have not interrupted the cycle at any time by pausing or canceling the cycle. We have not opened the dishwasher door at any time during the cycle nor have done so immediately after the cycle is completed. Typically, we run a dishwasher cycle between 7:00pm - 10:00pm and do not open the door until the next morning or evening. We are questioning whether this a heating element issue and if a replacement would resolve our current issue.

Dishwasher stinks!! Several plastic pieces have broken. Have called several times for replacements - they say they can't get them and have put things off and now, say it's out of warranty (yet they are the ones who postponed doing anything until it was out of warranty..... hmmmm...... how convenient) Don't buy Kitchen AId!!

Top rack rails failed (both sides)

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The top rack rails have a manufacturing defect where the rail attached to the rack connects to the inside mounted rail using only spot welds. They don't fit into each other for support, the entire weight of the rack + dishes is supported by 3 spot welds on each side. Both sides failed within 2 years of the purchase of the dishwasher, I have replaced them but expect to replace them again in 2 years. The rails aren't cheap, $70 each, I would recommend another manufacturer.

DO NOT BUY KITCHEN AID DISHWASHERS!

We wanted to buy an American made product to support the USA so we purchased this Kitchen Aid Dishwasher. We have had nothing but PROBLEMS with this item! Within in the first year it was under warranty and I had it serviced 3 times! it worked OK for a year and again it stopped working properly. Two different service technicians came out to service it within 6 months. Last month it was leaking from underneath the unit. It turns out that a seal is broken. The seal is not sold separately and to replace the entire mechanism with parts and labor was $450. It is not worth putting more money into this awful appliance. I am going to purchase another dishwasher it will definitely NOT BE A KITCHEN AID! If I could give it a 0 star rating I would have!

They installed this dishwasher and it doesn't work. Removed a working dishwasher, and now have to wait a week for the next installation. The free installation comes with a 4 hour window, and if you miss them and if they don't call you will have to reschedule. Hopefully the next one works. Won't be using them again.

Utter garbage... this pile of overpriced junk has done nothing but break from the very beginning. It has lost the pump, the mainboard, and multiple rack parts. I'm so sick of it that I will hopefully get to give it the "office space" treatment soon and replace it with something that is hopefully not on par with the south end leavings of a north-bound pig like this is.

Disappointed with Kitchen aid and Best Buy

I both Kitchen Aid dishwasher 30 days ago and since then it didn't work well. Dishes are not dry and the circle is too long, It takes 3 hr to finish. After every wash I find detergent on the bottom. Best Buy have 14 days return policy and I am not planning to shop there anymore. I was not aware of such policy, so I waited for 20 days to call and now I can not return dishwasher, I am stuck with a dishwasher that does not work well. I call customer service at Kitchen Aid I waited for 10 min for them to answer. I would never recommend this machine to anyone.

Beware of the "new" Kitchen Aid appliances

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We purchased the Kitchen Aid 5-Cycle Built-In Dishwasher Model Number: KDTE204GPS. After 2 weeks, it started failing during a wash cycle with a blinking blue light, leaving us with a soapy mess. We did as the manual described, checking over everything like water temp, etc. We called Whirlpool and were given the runaround for warranty work. We were told we were "too remote" for regular warranty service, and that we would have to call a local repair facility, pay them, and call Whirlpool back to be reimbursed! Finally , after our local repair person replaced the board in it, it started working but again in about 2 weeks, started with the blinking blue light issue again!! We still haven't been reimbursed by Whirlpool yet either. We will never buy another Kitchen Aid product again, and I am very doubtful of Whirlpool also! It's too bad as they used to produce quality products!

    high price, low quality

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We purchased this "high-end" dishwasher about 2 years ago when we renovated our kitchen. I will admit that we were happy with the appliance the first 2 years. However... Just past the 2-year mark, the top rack collapsed, breaking free of the runner tracks on both sides. Looking at the runners, there is rust at the points where the pieces on both sides failed - clearly poor craftsmanship and/or poor quality materials. And the best part is that when we looked to repair it, we can't find one of the parts. So we now have to replace the unit entirely. Looking through the reviews. I just saw a picture posted by another disappointed owner that could be our dishwasher exactly - so this is definitely not an isolated incident. It's amazing that the prior dishwasher we replaced, 15+ years old, never had any problems, let alone a failure of this magnitude despite supposedly being of lesser quality.

BEWARE - Parts come off and burn

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This dishwasher is terrible. I started having issue just after a year with cleaning and some of the tubing had come loose on the bottom and I had to slide it all back together. Then last night I smelled burning and another piece had come off and was burning on the heating unit. I tried to go online to order the replacement part and it is $60 for a 1 inch piece of plastic. Note that this is manufactured by Whirlpool so I will be avoiding both companies in the future.

    Worst dishwasher ever made!!!

I would give this dishwasher zero stars! We bought it in late 2019, within 6 months of our purchase the control panel would not work, we called Frigidaire then waited weeks for a service person to come and fix the problem. When they came they said they need parts that took another couple of weeks . Then about six months later it stopped draining the water and flooded out kitchen. They came and fixed it again. We are now back to square one again because the control panel is not working again! DO NOT BUY!!!

$400 repair after 18m of ownership

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

It's great when it works. However two things really bug me. First, no matter how we we rinse plates before putting them in, the nozzles on the washer arms are constantly getting blocked. The lower ones are easy to clean but the upper one is a nightmare. More importantly, after 18m of use - 6m past the warranty expiration - the washer pump stopped working, leading to a $400 repair bill. Of course you could argue that we should have got the extended warranty, but for a part to fail that quickly suggests very all low overall quality.

    Poor Design - leaks

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I had this dishwasher for 5 years. I was told this was one of the best dishwashers. It started to leak and my repairman said because of a faulty design these leak and the repair is $300 - $400 and if I repaired it would probably leak again because of the design. My thought is to throw it away and buy a better brand. Called the company and discovered the 5 year limited warranty was useless. Dishwashers usually have repair issues. Buy the extended warranty.

I bought the top of the line Kitchenaid two years ago and it is leaking a lot of water from the motor area. I took it apart and found all the rubber seals corroded and cracking. They will only sell you a $145 pump assembly to fix it. They do not sell the rubber seals, just the assembly. I thought I was buying quality, not a money pit.
