Customers are saying

Customers recognize the 24" Top Control Built-In Dishwasher with Stainless Steel Tub for its exceptional cleaning performance and quiet operation. Many appreciate the additional space provided by the third rack and the dishwasher's large capacity. While some users noted longer cycle times than expected and occasional issues with the soap dispenser, the positive feedback on cleaning, noise level, and build quality outweighs these concerns.

Noisy, died a week after use

We have an open floor plan so it was important to find a quiet washer. I took a look at Bosch, but wasn’t crazy about the arrangement of tines, and I had read about problems with smell, due to the interior remaining damp. The main reason I got rid of our old washer was a failed heating element which lead to a smelly washer, so no more of that. So I went with this model: stylish, nice features, heating element (two stars for these features). Unfortunately, I found it to be loud. There was always a low level hum from the motor, which sometimes took on a buzzing/vibration (found other reports of this online). Tech came out and said it was normal, but I still think it was loud for a 46dB machine. From what I have read, this machine has not only the circulation motor running, but another motor is always on keeping the profilter clean, and I think the wash arm also runs on a motor instead of water pressure. All these motors contribute to sound. And then the machine died a week later. I changed to another model (KDTE254ESS) which uses the standard filter, a different motor and is perfectly quiet at 39db. You won’t miss the profilter, prodry of this model. I'll post a review for KDTE254ESS as well.

This dishwasher is amazing. It does everything that we need it to do and it dries the dishes effortlessly. Highly recommend to anyone. We have all Kitchen Aid Appliances and it matches perfectly.

    Didn't Last

I bought this unit thinking it was the best. Little over 2 years later the pump does not drain right and now it leaks from the bottom. Can't believe I paid so much and it didn't last at all. Pre-washed, used lightly and still the unit didn't last. Sad that the quality was so poor and the warranty didn't cover the issues.

Wish I went with a different one

The best buy sales people said this was better than the bosch I had at my last house. Honestly its worse & I wish I could return it. This leaves spots on my dishes & requires way more prep work rinsing dishes than I’m used to. What’s the point of a dishwasher if I have to prewash or re-wash everything? Really disappointed in this product. Buy a bosch or miele for this price, research & check the model numbers.

Older unit that needed part replacement

Fortunate for us the unit was covered under the Geek Squad Protection plan which enabled us to replace the unit when components began failing....to a point where the parts were no longer available, necessitating a replacement unit to be ordered.

    It Worked While it Worked

I did a great deal of research before purchasing this dishwasher. We wanted something that would last the next five years, at least, and that would actually dry the dishes. It was either this one, or a Bosch, and ultimately, we went with this one. Fifteen months later, the heating element has warped and melted some of the inner gears. No problem, there's a warranty. Except for this: they want you to purchase an in-store warranty these days, so they only offer full coverage for one year. One year. So we're three months beyond that deadline and dishwasher-less. After spending this kind of money, I expected better. When I contacted customer service, they basically said, "Here, let us refer you to our repair services." So we could pay out of pocket for the parts and technician that are no longer covered. As of 3 months. Did we get a lemon? Maybe. Buyer, beware. Look at the length of time reviewers have owned the machine. Less than a year? The machine is awesome. Longer than that? Probably not.

New pump, motor and now a heating element. KitchenAid said they were sorry but there was nothing they could do because it was 2 years and 3 months. So far $411 in repairs and have not received bill for heating element.

I'm really disappointed at this dishwasher!

I'm really disappointed at this dishwasher and the after-sales service of Kitchenaid! I used to love this brand and believed it is reliable, not anymore! The water spray stops working after 18 months, fixing it is very urgent to me as I am very busy at work and can't afford to spend much time on washing dishes everyday (that's why I chose this comparatively expensive dishwasher). However, both its manual and its website provide few information of troubleshooting, I tried every method they provide but failed. There are quite some youtube videos online that help you fix them, I tried those that don't require you to buy a new part but still no luck. I tried to contact their customer service and found that they don't work at weekends, they have a window on their website that claims you could schedule a service up to 28 days, but NONE of the the slots is available. I couldn't do much now but wait till Monday to contact them to see what happens next

    Poor durability

It has done a decent job but the interface to operate it requires a ton of pressure to activate -- and this part has now failed after just over 3 years, requiring replacement of the control panel (at a cost of >$300).

    Problems with this unit

After several months developed loud thumping sound. Sprayer assembly was loose and could not be fixed. Whirlpool was aware of the problem. When replacing the entire lower assembly, a plastic mounting part broke, so am now hand washing dishes. A lot of plastic parts. Reliability does not seem very good compared to our kitchen aid microwave/oven. Disappointed.

    $1,500 for a 2-year product

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Bought this two years ago for $1,500. Runs fine, but last night the latch that holds the door shut stopped working. We take good care of our appliances and a latch breaking after two years of normal use is extremely disappointing. We've also had 2 refrigerator repairs that was eventually replaced with an entirely different model... all in less than two years. I'm tired of being on hold with this company and troubleshooting their products. It's obvious they're cutting corners and in over their heads with their high-end product lines.

Don't buy appliances from KitchenAid. They used to be something special. My entire kitchen is KitchenAid. after 5 years, I have to replace everything. The dishwasher (we got an extended service plan) broke 7 times. we replaced the electronics, the seals, the hinges, pieces from the racks, etc. On the our $2000 oven, hinges broke, cost $350 to repair. Spent $1000 on the dishwasher and spent $500 on repairs. Will never buy anything from KitchenAid again.

Motor and pump assembly dead under 3 years

Terrible reliability for a high end product which cost way more then its sister brands but it turns out they all use same parts internally. The motor and pump assembly failed and the parts are on back order nationwide with 3-6 months of lead times. I respected KitchenAid brand but this experinece has let us down big time!!

worked fine as long as it worked. broke down in 3 years with replacement parts unavailable. Geek squad protection plan is one of the worst, lacks proper communication and speedy response. Waiting without a functional dishwasher for 3+ weeks already with no end in sight for when GS will authorize a replacement.
