Horrible refrigerator. Works for a few months and then it ices up and the refrigerator compartment won't stay cool. Usually about 50 degrees. We had this unit repaired 5 times and then we received a new unit. Same problem. Now on third or fourth repair of second unit. Lost track.

I can say after the department manager at Pembroke Pines was so rude and unhelpful we shopped elsewhere for a fridge which is difficult having been elite plus for a long time but it was truly the worst service we have ever had on top of a defective appliance

Very disappointed. We’ve had this since 2019. It has gone out twice with the same problem. The temperature in the refrigerator won’t stay cool. The parts are under warranty but we pay for the labor and service call.

The scheduling was a nightmare. Refrigerator finally arrived and it did not work! Didn't turn on when plugged in. Waiting to hear when replacement will arrive. In the meantime very inconvenient with no working fridge! So disappointed.

Very nice / Professional Looking Style Fridge

Overall, 4.5 Stars. looks great, very spacious. Great footprint, clean looking. Professional interior(platinum and LED ) and exterior with the SS and industrial handles. Ice maker doesn't take up too much space. Much larger than a Side-by-Side. The doors are near zero clearance ( when you open them, they stay even with the sides ) better than most models. Only main complaint ( but def. ) not a deal breaker. is the water in the door ( will splash a little ) the drip tray catches it, but you will need to dry daily if you use it often.

    Buyer Beware...

I loved my new refrigerator when I received it... 2 months after having it, it stopped making ice. Placed a service call with Kitchenaid and they sent a local repair company to fix it. 3 visits later, they replaced about 5 parts. The main problem was that the auto defrost was not working which caused ice to form on the fan and temperatures to drop which causes ice to stop being made. For about 3 weeks, everything was great.... then again the ice stopped being made. I looked behind the freezer bins and saw it was frozen again... Made another call to KitchenAid, this time they decided to send someone from another local repair company. OMG, the man that showed up didn't even know how to remove the drawers... All he did was to defrost the freezer and ordered parts... I was so frustrated... The day they brought the parts, the refrigerator seemed to be working just fine so they didn't replace any parts. Of course the next day it started to act up again. They came back to change the parts, but one of the parts were ordered wrong. I had to wait again for the correct part be ordered. At this time I was fed up with the repairman and requested a repairman that knew what he was doing... Finally got the correct part and a very experienced repairman with these newer refrigerators came to replace it. He must have placed 5 calls into Whirlpool tech while he was there to make sure he wasn't missing anything. The refrigerator again was frozen and had to be defrosted, parts were changed and diagnostics were run. In speaking to one of the ELITE MASTER technicians at Whirlpool it was discovered that when the Master mother board in the back of the refrigerator is replaced, the control panel in the front has to be reset. That had never been done, and the mother board was replaced the first time a tech came out. When it isn't reset, the auto defrost will not work. Plus it was discovered that when the second repairman came and ran diagnostics, they left the auto defroster off. This time, they changed the front control panel so it didn't matter. It's been about 3 weeks now and so far so good.... I will keep my fingers crossed... SO IF YOU PURCHASE THIS REFRIGERATOR AND IT STOPS MAKING ICE, THE AUTO DEFROSTER IS PROBABLY NOT WORKING AND IT'S PROB ALL ICED UP. IT NEEDS TO BE DEFROSTED COMPLETELY. PARTS WILL NEED TO BE CHANGED AND MAKE SURE THE AUTO DEFROSTER IS TURNED ON, AND THE CONTROL PANEL IS RESET!! I wish I had purchased the other model that has the two extra meat and vegetable drawers in the front between the frig doors and freezer drawers. It would eliminate opening the refrigerator doors all the time just to get cold cuts.

    Extremely Bad Experience

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased this refrigerator and other Kitchenaid appliances worth over $10K in total. Since day one, I had nothing but trouble with the refrigerator. Almost immediately I had ice buildup in the main part of the refrigerator first noticed by a bad smell (as noted by other reviews). After service, this happened again. Lot's of parts were changed but problems continued. I had the ice bucket stuck in the ice maker, neither I nor the technician could remove it. The whole door was replaced after waiting months without the use of the ice maker. I had intermittent power problems requiring power resets. All PCB's were then changed. Now, most recently the unit only get's to 58 degrees. There is moisture building up inside and we have over $400 in food that is bad. To compensate for this poorly make refrigerator, I have paid each year for additional warranty coverage at $250 each year. I am not waiting for another service appointment to see what get's fixed now. This unit should have been replaced a long time ago. We have been more than fair in working with all of these ongoing issues.

    Overall Good Refrigerator

We are happy with most features of this KitchenAid fridge. It looks great, especially the platinum interior. Like all stainless appliances, it is difficult to keep fingerprints from showing. I am not loving the French door style, but that of course was our choice. A couple of minor things that I don’t like about the design: 1) The door ice dispenser stops when you open the right side of the fridge. This prevents me from getting my drink out of the fridge at the same time I fill my cup with ice. 2) The ice dispenser is difficult to push the "paddles", often crushing hard plastic cups 3) The ice dispenser misses the cup but you can angle the glass to avoid ice on the floor. Overall good, but the ice dispenser is the weakest feature.

I never wrote a review for an appliance before, the reason for this one, is to prevent someone else from the suffering we have been going through dealing with this expensive refrigerator. It has an ongoing problem of ice building up in on the back wall and controls, numerous service calls, food spoiling early and needing to be thrown out, no solution to the problem. After paying the hefty price, we did not think the extended warranty will be needed, well, we sure were wrong. I feel very disappointed and frustrated and would not recommend this refrigerator to anyone.

I bought this fridge in end of January 2018 , in two weeks of having very expensive fridge all lights went bad. Best Buy was trying to repair ..I said no way...fridge was replaced for another brand new unit. About 2 weeks ago (we are in June now) fridge start condensating more than normal actually a lot on one side only where ice make is located ,and slowly stop cooling enough so all the food got bad, adjusting temperature according to manual didn't help. Lockley we bought extended warranty so I'm hoping that Bet Buy ether replace for another unit that will be the third or repair this one.. I thought that KitchenAid was a high quality product but is not , we have all KitchinAid appliance and all of them are not that great electric slid in stove is even worse but that's another story. Don't buy this fridge but if you do make sure you have extended warranty .

KitchenAid is Garbage Brand - DONT BUY

This is the biggest piece of garbage I have ever purchased. I originally purchased in 2018. Within 5 months the refrigerator failed. It stopped producing ice, had completely frozen over in the back of the fridge preventing drawers from being able to close completely, which prevented the doors from closing properly. It would not cool below 60 degrees. Lost hundreds of dollars worth of food. Extremely disappointed. Best Buy was extremely helpful and let us return/replace with a new one. I would have gone with a different Brand, but this was the only one that fit our space properly. I took the chance that maybe the first one was just a lemon, and a new one would actually be a quality appliance. Boy was I wrong. Within 1 year from getting our REPLACEMENT Fridge, we had to completely have the back panel redone. Same issues - freezing over, not staying at cold temp, making loud buzzing noise, ice maker not working. That "fix" lasted about 18 months. It now is having same issues all over again. Add to that multiple plastic pieces have broken including the two main drawers have broken rails, making it difficult for them to open and shut. This is absolutely the worst refrigerator I have ever owned. I even purchased a cheapy garage refrigerator in the middle of Covid Lock Down and it works 1000 times better than this "high end" fridge. Stay away from Kitchenaid. Garbage company, garbage products.

We purchased this refrigerator in September 2017 and the freezer has never cooled well. For the past 3 months, we’ve had service techs out 3 times and multiple parts replaced. Just spoke with Kitchen Aid who refuses to provide a replacement unit despite multiple malfunctions in a 3-month old refrigerator. This will be the last Kitchen Aid purchase I make.

    Unhappy with manuf.

I bought refrigerator Model #KFIV29PCMS02 model 2 years ago. I have had the ice maker unit replaced 6 times in 2 years. I loved KitchenAid products until this. It was covered twice under the manuf. warranty (1st year), and 4 times under the extended service contract. The manuf. says that there is no recall, so there is nothing they can do, "you must go to the service provider". The Service provider says that they have this problem with ALL of the KitchenAid refrigerators that they service and it's a good thing we got the extended warranty. Unfortunately, it doesn't stop the fact that I have never been able to make ice more than a few weeks at a time. They ALWAYS have to order the replacement unit which takes 30+ days. Which means I never have ice from the ice maker. I am very disappointed with the support given from KitchenAid and the fact that they are not willing to stand behind their product. I will NEVER buy another KitchenAid appliance due to this experience and the service providers consistent repair issues with KitchenAid appliances.

Refrigerator is 18 months old and does not cool. We haven't had refrigeration in going on two months. Technician has come out and replaced the sealed cooling system, but it fails within two days with the exact same problem. Taken off work so many times for technician to "repair" it. Food spoiled and lost multiple times. Kitchen Aid does not care if you don't have a refrigerator for months. Buy anything else, please. Pure garbage, we'll see if Kitchen Aid will do the right thing and replace it.

We bought this refrigerator for our new home about 16 months ago to be consistent with the other Kitchenaid appliances provided by the builder. We've had problems with it not making ice and frost buildup behind the lower pantry drawer. We've had two service people out and we continue to have issues with it. Currently we're waiting for an evaporator drain pan to arrive before they can fix it, it's been close to a month now and we're still waiting for the part to come in. For paying over $3,000.00 we thought we had bought an amazing refrigerator but unfortunately it is not. Should've stayed with our initial choice of the GE brand. Very disappointed in this product!
