High performance, poor design
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This cooktop heats quickly and gets hotter than other brands I have owned. I'm only giving it 3 stars because of the wobbly knobs that feel like they are going to break any day, and the inconsistent controls that force you to "read" the cooktop every time you use the front burners. The 3 back burner controls are no problem. They all operate in the same direction, meaning High is in the 7 o-clock position and you turn the knob to the right to go to Low, at the 5 o'clock position. This is backwards (most cooktop knobs rotate to the right to get hotter) but you can get used to this. The real issue is the controls for the 2 front burners. They are totally opposite of each other in terms of the dual burner function and which way you rotate them to go hotter!!! Why on earth would KitchenAid do this??? Zoom in on the picture of the controls to see what I'm talking about. The bottom line is you have read the controls every time you turn on (or adjust) one of the front burners.

On the context of heating, it has no complain but the top of the heat panel gets scratch easily. Both of the bigger heat panel scratches already. I wish those areas are durable and scratch free.
