It's motor is stronger than a 5 but less than a 6. Nonetheless, the 5.5 qt. won't bog down. It's sturdy. Get one. I'm satisfied with mine. At 70, I just started baking for a hobby. In short order, I discovered hand mixers ard not very strong at all. In addition to the mixer I highly recommend the double sided silicone paddle. You won't have to keep wiping the bowl down due to batter working up the edges of the bowl.
