Yes it is expensive, but catch something like these items on a sale and well worth it. Wife wanted to get into baking and we have had many different items and appliances in the past, but the quality of this surpasses all of those. This thing is hefty and all pieces are very well made. You can just tell as soon as you start using it. I did knock it down 1 star because if you want any other attachments for the KitchenAid mixer they are very expensive. But again, you get what you pay for.
