But with the kitchenaid name i was expecting a little more power from the mixer. Also does not have the little notch at the base to allow it to comfortably rest on a bowl

OK for occasional use

It's definitely a beginner user mixer, OK for a boxed cake mix but too slow to whip meringue or sugars. Very basic even though it's a premium brand.
