I was very excited when I ordered this mixer online, so I bought 4 bags of 5 pound flour, 6 small packages of yeast, one box of baking soda and one can of baking powder. I thought I could bake a lot with this professional mixer. The package arrived nicely and very quickly. When I opened the package I immediately noticed the KitchenAid logo was not attached to the mixer body but this would not affect its function. I also noticed that the inside of the mixing bowl is very rough, just like a kid smears lots of circles inside with a #2 pencil (see photo).The user manual did not say anything about cleaning the bowl before using, but I cleaned it with dishwasher detergent and sponge three or four times. This did not help at all. When the dough was "done" in 30 minutes, there were lots of black stain on the dough, all from the contact between the dough and the metal of the bowl (see photo). I noticed that the black stain was formed at the beginning of contact between the dough and the metal bowl, not just at the very end of around 30 minutes. The black stain, if not taking away, will go into the formation f the dough. I threw the dough (made of 7 cups of flour) out and returned this mixer. I ordered on line and returned to a local store without any trouble. I have a rice cooker which is much cheaper (around $40) with shining inside of the stainless bowl. Why KitchenAid with this $500 product could not spend another $10 or $20 to make the bowl shining? By the way I like Bestbuy's return policy much better that Amazon's. I don't need to send it back by mail.
