I didn’t need a new one but couldn’t pass up the upgrade for the price! The matte blue is a great color. This model is easy to use and less bulky than you might think.

Another disappointment

My previous KitchenAid was a tilt-head that worked quite well for about a year before becoming noisy and wobbly. It sounded like the bearings were going to seize at any moment. I've had this mixer for just over six months and now when I run it there is a high pitched whine and it labors to mix. It sounds awful. The lift-stand also does not bring the paddle or whisk in close enough contact to the bottom of the bowl resulting in very poor mixing results. Trying to whip a cup of whipping cream is impossible - the whisk barely makes any contact. I have better results with an electric hand mixer or even just whipping by hand. I'm in the market for a new mixer, but I seriously doubt I'll be giving KitchenAid another try.

"Oh, he has a kitchenaid mixer, he must be a good baker." Little do they know that I don't bake anything. At most I'd mix some eggs and 4 cheeses together to make stuffed shells but you can do a lot more than that with this thing.

My ex mother in law use to say a cook needs the right tools for the job, just like we need the right tools for the job in our working lives. This is a tool nobody should go without.
