Best speakers for the money with 2 fatal flaws
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Flaw 1: You can't turn them off! These speakers do not come with a power button and are on all the time if you leave them unplugged. Flaw 2: Bluetooth is always in pair mode. This means anyone can connect to your speakers (ie. your neighbor) and override aux audio.

Good but not great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound OK for games and videos. Bass is not as tight as it should be when listening to music. My only other complaint was there was no way to turn them off short of pulling the power plug.

Still a great performer and value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Always had the Klipsch Promedia speakers in mind as an eventual replacement for my workstation. It just took 18 years for my Cambridge Soundworks system to finally crap out. Those were a decent sub/sat cube system and a step up from the Bose systems available at that time. Fast forward to 2018, and dedicated computer speakers have become a rapidly dwindling category. Cambridge Soundworks is nothing more than a shell label now, and most of the market has shifted to all-in-one Bluetooth and soundbar options. Those newer options have their place, just not on my desktop. I still prefer fuller range sound, a minimum of gimmicky processing, and two actual speakers that I can position myself. With those criteria in mind, I went with the Promedia line. The Klipsch Promedia 2.1 has been around since the early-2000s and updated many times. For one thing, the subwoofer now weighs 11 lbs instead of the 16 lb. heft that the original version carried back in 2000. The model that I bought at Best Buy includes the Bluetooth option that Klipsch made available in 2016. Best Buy no longer carries the non-BT model. The Promedia 2.1 BT uses a pair of two-way satellites, which differs from the one-way designs used on most other powered sub/sat systems. Each speaker has a 1" horn tweeter and 3 1/2" midrange driver. This makes the satellite units a bit on the tall side at 8 1/2" (at least compared to the CSW cubes I had before). The subwoofer is a 6 1/2" side firing design, with a front port. The unit is 9 1/2" high and the back plate where the amplifier resides can get hot (no dedicated heat sinks, so it's just a flat metal plate to dissipate heat). For the price, the sound quality is quite good. With a dedicated horn tweeter handling the highs, I expected more of the forward highs that I heard from some of Klipsch's home audio speakers. But, it's actually the midrange that dominates more. The highs are more subdued. The subwoofer has decent lower extension. It doesn't go too far into the lowest octave and it's not the tightest bass. But, it is honest bass and not just a boosted midbass to artificially give it more thump. My understanding is that the crossover for the subwoofer is somewhere around 125 Hz, so a little bit of directional sound can give away its location. As I mentioned, I was surprised that the highs aren't more prominent. But, I found that the speakers are VERY particularly about placement. I know that horn drivers in general tend to have a narrower dispersion pattern than conventional cone drivers, which makes for a smaller sweet spot. The horn tweeters on the Promedias give a very different sound depending on how I angle it towards the seating position, and on the height. When I first placed them on my desk with the speakers pointed directly forward, they sounded muffled. But, lifting them by about 2" and angling them more directly towards my head made a huge difference in the clarity. The imaging on the speakers is also astoundingly good once the positioning is done right. The stereo images are very prominent and lifelike with the Promedias. Once I tweaked with the placement, I could see why these speakers set the benchmark for the category when they first came out, and why they've lasted this long. Overall, an excellent set of computer speakers that works well with a variety of different music.

Quit working
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These speakers sounded great for four days then they just stopped working. I was using them via blue tooth with a brand new Dell gaming desktop so I know it's not computer. Very disappointed.

Ok computer speaker system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wouldn’t recommend this for the money. It’s an ok speaker system but not for the price of it. Sound quality was fair but not for having a sub with it. Right after I hooked it up and listened I immediately put it back in the box and returned it.

Avoid this Product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound quality is fair - not good or great, not bad or poor. Speakers were purchased in 2017 and shorted out after 4 years of use, which is a common experience according to many at the Klipsch support website. This is no surprise given the sub-woofer runs very warm and it contains the main circuit board for the system. I expected more from the Klipsch brand, but apparently a cheap consumer product is a cheap consumer product regardless of the brand name affixed to the product.

Good overall sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had always thought that the Dell oem computer speakers on my PC sounded pretty good until I hooked up a cheap set of headphones and realized the speakers didn't do a very good job. Started investigating various brands and the Klipsch 2.1 were well rated. BB had a sale on them right before xmas for $99 (BT version) which was a great price. Installation was easy but one speaker channel didn't work, switching leads at the sub and no function followed the sub speaker channel. Someone else noted in a BB review that 3.5 connector was an issue for them. Over time (a couple of days) sound gradually began to work and now is not an issue. I had turned in a Klipsch service ticket(email) and will discuss issue with them when they contact me - it has been 4 days so far w/o contact. Enjoying sound quality very much. On a par with headphone listening. A lot said about no ON/OFF switch (I am using an old surge protector) and no BT switch. Yes, those design issues are annoying.

Black Friday Fail.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I connected my phone to them via aux cable in Best Buy and I was pretty blown away considering they were only $99. I instantly recognized Klipsch as an audio industry titan, then I realized they were Bluetooth and I was sold. I wish I hadn't been so impulsive... but hey, it was Black Friday. PROS - They sound awesome. I listen to a lot of hip-hop and electric alternative music. The subwoofer delivers deep, hard-hitting bass. The speakers are loud and crystal clear; nice highs and mids. CONS -There is not an on/off switch. White noise and random taps/clicks come through the speakers when the volume is turned up then when I turn the volume down the speakers pick up radio signal... Unbelievably irritating. -Klipsch acknowledges the white noise in their speakers in the troubleshooting section on their website, but they offer no solution at all on this set. They suggested turning the speakers off.... THERE IS NO ON/OFF SWITCH!!!!! Do they expect me to unplug my speakers when I'm finished with them? Crazy. --The wire to the speakers is thin and cheap feeling. I'm guessing these cheap wires are the reason the speakers are picking up radio signal... -There is not a Bluetooth switch or any type of pairing mode. Anybody can link up to the speakers at any time and override a physical connection. Yes, if you have the speakers directly plugged into your device, anybody within range can override your speakers. CONCLUSION I don't understand how such a reputable brand could release a product that seems so hastily developed or really just not developed at all. They sound great but Klipsch somehow managed to drop the ball on every other aspect of these speakers. I wish I would have done some research before buying these. I would return them but I can't find the receipt and the closest Best Buy is 2 hours from me. (I was visiting my parents in VA for the Thanksgiving when I bought the speakers)

To me this is not a good product for over $100
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This may only happen in my unit, I am not sure. But in my opinion, this is not a well-made product for > $100. I got my unit as a gift on my Grad day, it only works fine after a couple months, and I start noticing abnormal sound in the sub (like ... bloop bloop). Every time, when I turn on the power, that sound will be on right away. I changed the power strip, unwired all satellite spears just to test the sub ... and found that the abnormal sound coming from the sub. I am very disappointed with this purchase.

Unprotected Bluetooth
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Would not recommend these speakers for anyone who lives in an apartment complex. The speakers are Bluetooth and have no security or way to kick someone off the signal once they are connected (not even a power cycle). My neighbors playing Metallica for me at 1:30 AM on a Tuesday? No thanks!
