    Great value for price!

I missed having a quality two-channel stereo system and started planning a budget to put a moderately priced rig together with above entry level components that I could reasonably afford. My purchase decisions were all value-driven as I am now retired on fixed income. Music is huge part of my life since childhood. I started with speakers and then chose power supply to fit with speakers. FYI, I have background in professional music mixing, recording and broadcasting. After several months of detailed research, I chose the Klipsch R-28F as the best bang for my limited buck! Based on professional and user reviews, in store listening audition, the quality reputation of Klipsch and the specs, it was a wise, well-informed decision. The fact that I could get these at half-price during Best Buy's Black Friday sale made it easy to pull the trigger. I want quality at a fair price within my means. That is what I got with these speakers. I feel they're worth the list retail IMO. On sale, they're a huge bargain at $225 each! I go by the sound I hear in choosing stereo speakers, but I also like the confidence in seeing good performance on the spec sheet. Unable to find a comparable speaker at full retail price. After hearing these, I am truly happy with purchase. Do your own homework and research. Then give them a listen. Sound quality is superb. Clarity in all ranges, well balanced sound at high and low volume, and a fantastic soundstage. The sweet spot is swweeeeet! Even in the store, the sound seemed to emanate from the center behind the speakers blending in the center for a blissful sound. A great presence and image with no discernible distortion. The R-28F is designed for music. I imagine they sound great for home theater use too. I have a dedicated home theater system that I am using independent of my music rig. I then purchased the Yamaha R-S700 stereo 2.1 channel receiver from Best Buy to drive the Klipsch speakers. The R-S700 delivers a clean 100 watts RMS @ 8 ohms. A great match w/these speakers. Sound wonderful together. So far, I have used speakers w/out a subwoofer and am pleased with the towers alone for music listening. They are rated at 35hz, able to reach 32 Hz depending on placement and room characteristics. I highly recommend these speakers as the heart of a two-channel stereo system with, or without a sub.

Terrific sound, big but necessary imo

So you're here so you want to purchase them, but really what you're thinking about beyond cost is the size, right? Yeah I get it. They are big. Not huge, but big enough they will look too big in a small room. With that said, they look great to me, and the sound they produce is excellent. So should you get these or the smaller ones? That's opinion I think, but if you want the best quality sound and have the space, get these. They don't even need much power to sound great, so if you have a smaller amp don't think it won't do the job...it will.

    PRICE MUST BE A MISPRINT!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

PRICE MUST BE A MISPRINT! $249 each is a steal. No floorstanding speaker at this price will even come close to challenging these Klipsch towers. These are "REAL" home theater speakers that happen to excel at music too. "Audiophile" grade tower speakers. LOOK AT THIS: Two 8 inch Woofers plus they're front ported. WTH? How can Best Buy sell these at this cheap price? I don't get it. It must be a misprint. If this Black Friday price listing is correct? RUN don't Walk. RUN to Best Buy & snatch these up NOW! 2 of these towers plus a decent center speaker a $99 pair of Klipsch bookshelf speakers for the surrounds and you've got Home Theater perfection! Fact! You may not even need a sub-woofer because these towers twin 8 inch woofers get low & loud! But, if you feel the need? I suggest the BIC F12 subwoofer $199 which was designed by the same man who did the original 12 inch Klipsch sub-woofer that runs $500 or so. Anyway, the above speaker setup I listed will get you a 5.1 system for under $800 that will kill the competition & deliver IMAX type suroound sound in your home. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Excellent Speaker for High-End Home Theater

I have been looking for a high-end speaker to add to my Pioneer Elite amplifier. My amplifier has bi-amp output for each speaker channel. I have been looking for speakers with such capability for the best sound possible. This speaker has this capability giving my amplifier the best control over sound output rather than a generic. Note, Best Buy has sold Klipsch Speakers at 50% off for Black Friday 2014 and 2015. Great time to buy!

I paid full price for these speakers and I am overly satisfied! I've always been a JBL fan for years, not anymore. I junked the JBL stadium venue series line up that I had because they just flat out sucked. Replaced my speakers with the Klipsch R7ll for fronts, R28fs for rears, center channel and 2 15 inch Klipsch R15 subwoofers. Powered by a Sony 7.2 185 per channel amp. I'll tell you what I can pop your ear drums with the most crystal clear sound and bass that will almost and might even break windows! I read a few reviews about the R 28fs and I'll tell ya these have to be powered correctly to really hear how they shine! If you are powered incorrect these can sound kinda bright in highs and even lacking in lows but if you get a good amp with lots of options they are amazing! They just did a speakers quality test Klipsch r 28fs came in first place in sound reproduction and are the best speakers you can buy in the price range. These are amazing speaker!

Got these bad boys at half price and they are definitely worth it at $450 a pair. I have them hooked up to a 10yr old Pioneer Elite and they are loud and clear. I also am pushing an old Acoustic Research 12" sub (I might want to upgrade that now). Unless I redue my movie theater these will be used for music only.

I have always been a loud music lover . I listen to hard rock , outlaw country and alternative music. I am finally getting old enough to have enough cash to build a premium home theater. Last spring I bought a Sony STR-DN1040 receiver and a pair of Polk audio tsx 330 . I used my old LG center and LG surround back for the rest and a rebuilt RCA 250 watt powered sub from 14yrs ago .I was satisfied with the setup , but something was missing . I got these for $225 a piece on black Friday sale . I received them quickly as expected from bestbuy. I hooked them up right away and had to make some adjustments on my PS4 and the receiver. I found that these sound incredible with Dolby Digital via HDMI . Hard rock'n ,wall shaking , soul moving sound . These speakers have in your face treble .I turned the treble down a smidge and cranked the bass to +10db . I also tried these with optical digital output via SONY ps4 don't know what is going on , but the sound is different. The bass is less and the overall sound is totally different. I will keep using the HDMI because OMG, these things royaly rock using Dolby Digital. Buy them , use them , love the music they produce.

be the envy of all your friends. The R-28F floorstanding speaker is the biggest option, designed for medium and large rooms. The enclosure measures 42-by-9.5-by-15.7 inches, and packs in a 1-inch aluminum Linear Travel Suspension horn-loaded tweeter and two 8-inch copper-spun high-output IMG woofers

    Klipsch new reference speaker

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I auditioned the R-28F when I dropped by BB last week. I can confirm the point of the other reviewer that the new R-28F sounds smoother and pleasant to my ears than the RF-82 II, in my opinion. Despite both speakers use the same 1” compression driver; Klipsch has raised the crossover frequency of the R-28F from 1400hz of the RF-82 II to 1800hz. As a result, more of the mid frequency of the R-28F is now handled by the dual 8” woofers making it sound more balanced and smooth than the RF-82 II. I am glad that Klipsch has taken a step in the right direction. When I compared the R-28F with the Pioneer SP-SF52 right next to it, I found the Pioneer sound very good but boxy and constrained. It is a common problem with most box speakers and that is why open baffle and planar speakers sound so open and real. I really hope that Klipsch will come up with a new dual diaphragm compression driver like the JBL D2 in its upper tier speakers in the future. Considering the price and sq of the R-28F, I highly recommend it to anyone who cares about music and value.

I just purchased these Klipsch r28f 's and there's only one way to categorize these speakers (Amazing)! I replaced my dual 8 stadium venue series JBLs that were quite nice but no comparison to these Klipsch.. I would of spent more money than best buys asking price if needed!

These are the 3rd pair of Klipsch speakers I've owned and by far the best. If your receiver has the capability to bi-amp the speakers I highly recommend doing so. I got a great Cyber Monday Deal on these and I'm completely blown away by how awesome they sound. I used to have some really nice B & W speakers and I think their high end sounded a little better but not by much. I don't even have my sub hooked up right now because the Christmas tree is in the corner. Not sure I really need it but will probably hook it up in time. I mainly use these in a 2.1 setup although I have a center channel for 3.1 when watching tv. If you like to blast rock music and rattle windows you will not be disappointed. I haven't been able to truly shake the walls all the way yet cause I can't get everyone out of the house but such clear sound and punch!

    Good Speakers lousy service

Shipping was fast, price was great. Ordered 2 of these, open box "excellent" condition. One looked great, the other came with veneer peeling off of the bottom, which doesn't seem to meet Bestbuy's open box excellent category description: "Products in excellent condition look brand new in appearance — with no physical flaws, scratches or scuffs". I called to exchange this speaker but was told that since it was open box it wasn't exchangeable regardless of whether it truly meets their advertised condition or not. I just wanted to write this review to caution others about buying open box items from Bestbuy.

These speakers are incredible. I bought the whole package for a 5.1 bi-amp surround setup. I have two of these, the dual 5 1/4" center channel, two 5 1/4" bookshelfs, and the 10" sub all hooked to the Denon AVR-3100W receiver. I cant imagine needing better sound, the clarity is very impressive allowing for action sequences and spoken word to be heard flawlessy without having to constantly adjust the volume. I would recommend bi-amp wiring these as you can't reach the speakers potential without doing so (receiver alone cant send enough power on 1 channel). I have these set up in a 22' x 22' room and i cant get above 70% volume without risking bleeding from my ears. BEWARE - don't be turned away from these speakers because of the sound at the store display, they are way more capable than best buy has them set up to be.

Great speakers at an affordable price

I bought these speakers specifically for my 2.0 setup with a turntable and CD player. So far, I'm fairly impressed with the quality of these speakers. After connecting them to my amp, I ran a series of tones and measured the speakers' output to generate a frequency response curve. The speakers are pretty flat --- with the exception near 1 kHz; there is approximately a -6 dB drop near 1 kHz. I suspect they were designed that way with the expectation that a center channel speaker will be used with the set up (e.g. 5.1 system), which many reviewers claim made the voices clear in the home theatre set up. Without equalization, the R-28 make voices appear to be buried in the mix. After equalizing, everything was all good again.

Replaced a pair of Polk Audio towers that I paid over $1000 for 20 years ago. Nervous that these would not compare. Should have not worried because these are awesome. Great sound highs and bass. Best part is I got them on sale for half price on Cyber Monday.

Recently purchased the R28fs to use as rear surrounds, as I have the RP280s as front mains and if you look at my setup now, I have the R28fs as fronts and RP280s in the surround! To my ears the R28f has a much smoother and not so much in your eardrum kind of reproduction. I believe the Aluminum horn loaded tweeter to be much more balanced compared to the Titanium. Actually looking to sell my RP280s and get another pair of R28fs. You will not find a better speaker for the price! I currently have these speakers hooked up to a Denon X4300 amp and a small pre amped Klipsch amp, which rounds me out to about 160 watts per channel and these speakers will blow you and your neighborhood out of their seat. Also have 2 Klipsch 12" subs and center channel. As for all the people that claim these speakers are renamed Synergy or Icon models, they need to stop looking at the R28fs and start looking at their receiver because if you don't have them dialed in, them and most all Klipsch speakers can sound really high pitched.

I purchased the Cerwin Vega SL-28 because the Klipsch was a touch out of my price range. Had the CV's for 2 days and they were terrible!! Went to return them and Klipsch were on sale(lucky lucky me!) I'm the type of person who likes the pictures to fall off the walls while listening to music, could use a little more low end at high volume IMO .(maybe a little more "break in" time?)
