Completes my new 4K home theater

This sub is a great final component to my new home theater. After watching The Last Jedi, my wife complained that the explosions were too shaky and rattling, so after several adjustments on my receiver and the sub while watching the early bombing sequence over and over, I think I found the perfect point where I can feel the intensity of explosions without having the ceiling shake!

I am incredibly fortunate to have not one, but two pairs of Klipsch 8" floor-standing towers, one pair for the fronts and one pair as my surrounds. I also have a pair of ceiling speakers for Dolby Atmos and it's all powered by a Yamaha RX-A870. All in all, the system sounds pretty darn good. But then, I added two more pieces to complete my Home-Theater puzzle: A Samsung 82" QLED, and this Klipsch 12" powered sub. Oh. My. God!!! This thing is amazing! Effortless bottom end, completely filling out the sound. Full, tight, and so musically accurate. I'm not a huge sports fan... I live in Tampa Bay, so football is a non-starter (sorry football fans!) So my system is all about the movies. When I sit down and dim the lights to watch the latest explosion- and car-chase-filled summer blockbuster, or enjoy a sappy "I-love-you-but-I'm-afraid-to-tell-you" romantic comedy, or, heck, even just the latest binge-watch fare on Netflix or Amazon Prime, the sound is perfect, the surround processing places everything perfectly within my listening space, and this sub makes it all feel as real as life. Helicopters hover overhead... planes routinely zip through my living room, and door-knocks and monster roars come from right where they are in the scene. But for all that sound bouncing around, the sub never seems to overpower the rest of the system, even when I dare to crank it up. I recently saw Terminator: Dark Fate. I gotta be honest with you... My system, both the picture and the sound, are better. I'm probably going to see Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker at the IMAX theater... but I'm really looking forward to watching at home, in the Gryphon Theater, to really enjoy it. Buy this sub. You will NOT regret it.

Good power and fun for movies and bass heavy music. But I think I'll go back to sealed subs for better accuracy.

    Great sub

Do you enjoy bass? Klipsch is great sounding speakers and this sub, while the entry line, gives the punch needed. In our bedroom, carpet of course, and this sounds good but due to our oversized room and plenty of furniture to interrupt sound reflection makes it just good. I have a very old polk which this outperforms but still need more for my taste. Downstairs however, an open lay out about 30' x 21' x 9' this thing opens up. All of our cabinets rumble. While I have heard that this is great for music and okay for movies I feel this is great for both. The Hertz is around 30 and 20 is best for movies but downstairs without carpet, this thing pounds. I am looking at adding buttkickers to our furniture but sticking this behind the sofa gives a rumble to out sofa so for now no need for that $300 kit. There are definitely stronger ones including this brand but for 200 this is a must for home audio. Plus it is so pretty to admire after enjoying its power.

    Average subwoofer

I have over 25 years of speaker / subwoofer listening experience with many speakers and subwoofers listened too; and I've also built many quality subwoofer enclosures. So as an audiophile, I know good sound. This subwoofer is average and definitely will never go on my list of recommended subwoofers. There's a reason why this subwoofer is 50% off since only being released for only four months and that's due to the sound quality. So any subwoofer can put out bass, but there is such a thing as bass quality and accuracy and this sub fails on both those two levels. This sub does not go as low as other subs This sub is not accurate across the bass spectrum This is sub is muddy sounding The crossover is average as best With all that being said, this subwoofer gets LOUD and there's not a whole alot of distortion at high volumes. You really have to play with the volume, crossover, and your receiver's settings to get it dialed in to sound decent. Now..........I know it all sounds negative, but listen: If you're looking for sub that gets LOUD and needs to fill a subwoofer void......then this is it BUT If you're looking for accuracy, fidelity, and true low end across the whole bass spectrum......don't get this sub.

Replaced a 22 year old sub with this one. Absolutely amazing sound. Sound lfills the room and it does not take much power to do it. Very happy with purchase.

    A beast of a subwoofer

Got this at Best Buy because on sale it was cheaper than the "10 sub they had. Disregarded reviewers that talked about how it shakes any house its in. Well it sure does. Its shared by my 2.1 audio and my 7.1 home theater using home theater bypass on my preamp. My audio system has two Klipsch 820's, and they don't need much help, but my HT, with Front left and right sat speakers really benefit. Took some time but I finally tamed this thing, and when properly adjusted is really an asset, deep bass that is tight and articulate, but its going to shake the walls when it gets loud no matter what. Very nice, and sure the plate amp might go out, but this is an industry wide problem, and a good excuse to get an external amp that's better, receivers can do all of the functions that a plate amp used to do. Can't tell you how many I have had go out, just not worth worrying about, really. Anyway this is a great sub, and the basics are all there, for 375 $ its a steal, even for full retail its a steal, recommended.

    Good Little Sub-woofer

I have been a fan of Klipsch for many years. From my set of KG4s (that I purchased around 1989 and still use daily) to the center and surround speakers, all are Klipsch. I have had several sub-woofers over the years, from non-powered units driven by an old amp, to a custom built unit with twin 12" drivers. I finally got tired of having a massive sub-woofer and wanted to downsize (plus Best Buy had a great sale) and so purchased this sub. I very happy that I did. To my ears it produces nice tight bass and integrates well with my other speakers. It can definitely produce some body thumping bass during movie action scenes.

    Fantastic starter sub!

I was looking at building a 18" home theater powered sub in a sealed enclosure before purchasing this. The black Friday pricing is what pushed the purchase and I'm very happy I did. The primary reason for this sub was going to be for music in a large open area that branches to the rest of our home, aka the Bar. I currently have an older Velodyne 10" ported sub that the music is killing. I'm very happy with this purchase. I also have a Klipsch surround sound system in my theater room (where the velodyne is back at) so I knew kind of what to expect out of this sub. This sub is paired with a Pioneer elite receiver and a polk RM95 surround system in a 20'x18' carpeted room with 8' ceilings.

Good Upgrade from a 10" Sub

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

A fantastic upgrade over my Polk PSW10 10" subwoofer that I have used for years. Surprisingly at low listening volumes, the Polk 10" kept up with Klipsch just fine (sound quality, no distortion, boomy-ness), but it wasn't until the mid to high listening volumes that the Klipsch blew the old sub out of the water. Nice clean bass with no distortion at high volumes. The gain knob is set in the middle and it's enough bass to fill my space for my 15'x25' room with an open floor plan to the kitchen. Rattles my walls and floors. Consider it as a massage chair with a vibrating function. I was a little concerned with the rear port due to my placement at the corner of the room, but I did not hear any air pushing in and out of the port despite being up against the wall. This sub is awesome. Crisp and clean bass at all listening levels. Only con is the sub drops in volume below 29 hz. Some dubstep or hip hop music go lower easily. Typically, 12" subs can hit the low 20's, but this is an entry level 12" sub.

    Great speaker!

I have had an old cheap Yamaha component system for a LONG time. Was always impressed with the sound and bass for the money. Recently the speakers have been going out so I replaced the center, left, and right with definitive technology ones which are great. I really wanted a matching sub when my yamaha one started to die but the huge discount and positive reviews on this Klipsch swayed me. WOW I had no idea what I was missing. Way overkill for my house and system but I am in love!
