For that kind of money? Nope. Main reason is that it's tuned for 30hz performance, for $400 - $450 there are WAY WAY better performing subwoofers that can get down to 20hz which is your ultimate goal in a subwoofer. Like the HSU. But I was able to get it at $200 during Xmas time so at that price point, is a good buy. TL:DR Buy on sale. Not full price.

This has worked great for me, especially considering it goes on sale. It has more than enough punch for my living room. The only trick I’ve found is that the settings and placement of a sub is lot more important than any other speaker. Took me a few nights of listening to different shows, movies and music to find a location and settings that were impactful but not annoying. Nothing mystical about the setting it up, just took longer than most “tech” these days.

Simply an amazing sound! The Klipsch R-120SW Subwoofer has a very warm and pleasant sound. The bass is very clean.

I wasn't sure how this one Subwoofer would perform by itself but rest assured when I say you will be blown away. This sub has deep clean bass and it actually made me laugh when I first heard it. There's been a couple times when I thought it was thundering outside and then I realized it was just my subwoofer, If you're on the fence, make the jump and you will be very happy with your purchase.

Wow! I thought having 2 subs was just marketing hype, but the difference in bass quality is night and day. Absolutely love this sub. Both subs are Klipsch 12" but my first one is 22 years old. There seems to be some improvement in the technology over the years but they match up pretty well. Overall I'm very satisfied with this purchase. If I could afford it I'd buy 2 more.

Klipsch really does a good job in the mid-priced speaker area. This sub is another great example.

Would have liked it to be sealed, but by far the best ported sub I’ve used. Watch out for crappy on/off switches. Internal driver is very quiet. Love the standby mode.

I had purchased this same subwoofer last year and really liked it. I decided that I wanted a second subwoofer to enhance and even out the bass in my home theatre/music listening system. So I bought this matching subwoofer. If you have ever considered running two subs, do it. The bass is fantastic with this subwoofer. It evens out the bass and really sounds great for both movies and music.

Review of Klipsch-Reference Series 12" subwoofer

I purchased this subwoofer even though I did not need one this large purely because of the brand, and then because the store had an open box at a greatly reduced cost - there was not another one in all of NYS at the time. I would have had to order one and wait a month (I didn't want to). To the review: it has a LOT of power and in a tiny space, you might want to keep its settings on the low side. But I love it.

This makes big boom noises, so much more than my old 8 inch one. It can even rumble the house. Well worth the price.

I've got this hooked up to an Onkyo TX-RZ-820 AV system, setup in a 16x32 room with Cerwin Vega 12" 3-way mains, Definitive Technology C/L/R 2002 center and Bose 301 surrounds. Cinema experience is almosy too much low end & I had to back it down to balance it out. Now Explosions, earthquakes, battle parts of movies are amazing! I've been waiting for a year for a sale & finally got it on sale for under $230, it was a smoking deal!

    Klipsch Sub

Had a Klipsch 12" sub for 20 years and loved it, but it started to die. Went with another brand and smaller sub to save space and money for a couple of years, but hated it. Found this one during black friday sale and saved even more by buying open box. Shipped and arrived in great condition. This sub didn't disappoint. Low, clean bass that will rattle the house even more than my old Klipsch sub did. I'm bass happy once again.

I purchased 2 of the R-120SW subs and I'm satisfied with their performance. They are a nice upgrade from the Klipsch SW350 subs that I have. The only issue I have is with the volume control knob. It is too sensitive. A SMALL turn changes the gain too much. Klipsch needs to incorporate notches in the knob instead of the free wheeling it has now. This only matters if you are trying to find tune multiple subs.
