Bought it as open box for a steal. Bought it to add to my other Klipsch R-120SW for my setup. It is paired with two RP-5000F towers, two RP-500M bookshelf speakers for rears and a RP-500C for my center.

Good experience with Best Buy as far as the purchase and shipping goes, but I’m disappointed with the sub and returning it. To be fair, the stated frequency response is only to 29Hz; however it loses all muscle below 35Hz or so. There’s really no bottom end at all. It also sounded extremely obnoxious and boomy in my room, with a big jump in the response curve somewhere around 50Hz - likely a result of the frequency to which the port is tuned. It does play loud, but loudness should not be conflated with good sub performance. I have an old 10” Yamaha sub that came with an entry level HTIB, and it sounds far better than the R-120SW in my opinion. At the retail price of $499 I would have a hard time giving it even one star. On sale at $250 or less, this might provide value for someone with a very limited budget. Even in that case, my recommendation would be to save your pennies for something better.

Ok sound when it didn’t clip the bass at high peak

Really wanted to keep this woofer as it sounded decent when the speaker did not clip the bass at high impact moments. This speaker sounded ok for the price. It was not too precise when hard hitting bass was played through movies or music. It was loud and muffled bass produced during rumbling scenes or low bass notes in music. But I had to take it back because it would clip the bass when hard hitting notes or sounds were played. Read online it was common among these woofers. Didn’t want to go through customer service from Klipsch to get a replacement amp. Just returned BB and now I have a SVS on it way.

Klipsch hasn't let me down yet. I already had one of these subs so a second is what the home theater dr. ordered. Great subwoofer, great overall company. Highly recommend.

Subwoofer's are one of the most important pieces of a home theater but often times they do not get the praise or respect they deserve. A good subwoofer can help elevate your system to new levels. It can help hide some deficiencies of your speakers but only if you have a good sub. If you just pick any sub and do not get one that will help your speakers it will not make as much of an impact. That being said this Klipsch subwoofer packs a punch, it goes so well with the Klipsch speakers I have and it helps round out the sound from the speakers. For being a big black square it sure does look really good. The design and especially the copper color of the cone looks great. If i had to make one complaint is that the light to signify if the speaker is on or off is on the front of the speaker behind the grill and it can be hard to see unless you are looking directly at it. I personally prefer it on the rear so if i need to check if my sub is working a quick glance in the back and I can see if the light is on while I make adjsutments.

Replaced an older 10" Klipsch sub with this 12" sub. Love the upgrade! Delivers outstanding lows for home theater and listening to music. My setup includes two Pioneer Elite Atmos towers for front / height with crossover set to 80.

I purchased this during the recent sale. Unless this one is defective in some way, it just isn't a strong performer (especially at full price). Perhaps many just don't know what they are missing on the lower end. I truly didn't realize how much of any LFE soundtrack is below the 29Hz response level of this subwoofer until using it. The range of 40Hz to 79Hz has a decent response, but it isn't powerful. I have also experienced some port noise. All of this is regardless of room position and trying to EQ the subwoofer. I have no idea how it performs with music aside from film/movie soundtracks as I didn't use it in that manner. At half price for a budget setup, this sub would be okay. I can not recommend it at full price. Apparently many are quite happy with it's performance (based on reviews). I am disappointed. This item will be going back.
