Nice speaker but not awesome

SImply can't handle the low frequencies found in most movies today. The "booms, and bams" come out as loud pops. Almost sounds like speaker is blown - but it isn't. They are connected as front channel speakers to a SONY STR-1080D 7.1 AV receiver - not a slouch in its class. Funny how my ancient and I mean ancient Bose 301's handled the movies just fine. May be a great speaker for music - but for theatre sound they are sorely lacking (especially for the price).

First Klipsch always has a sale so buying at MSRP, you’re paying too much. At $145/pr, it’s a four star due to the mids being lower than normal for “the Klipsch sound”. I purchased these for rear surrounds usage. I personally would not use these speakers as mains or fronts.

They can’t compete with the Sony SS CS5 bookshelf speakers. Bass is weak, soundstage is mediocre at best. These might be ok in a home theater system with multiple channels but are definitely not in a 2.1 audio system. There is a higher priced version of this called the Premier that offers more frequency response on both ends that Best Buy Sells but it is quite a bit more. Will be returning them.
