all the tie-ins to movies from the past (Apocalypse Now to name one) and a perfect addition to the monster universe. does a great job setting up the tie in to Godzilla and the "land of giants/monster" world. action scenes are exciting, acting is solid and this movie spares no-one. i love how the story doesn't care how much the actor "cost". definitely get it in 4K if you have the player!

I have been a huge fan of King Kong, both the original and the Peter Jackson versions. This is a new take on the Kong tale. I found John C. Reilly to be excellent in his role and brought some humor to a dark story. All performances were very good. Nice to see Tom Hiddelston as someone other tha Loki. Was able to really dislike Sam Jackson's character. Overall a very entertaining film.

Being both an amateur naturalist and a film buff, I wasn't too keen on the size of Kong from the initial trailer for the film and neither was (or am) I thrilled about Universal's "connected" monster film universe, but as (yet another Hollywood) reboot this film isn't half bad. The action is engaging and the creatures are interesting twists on what's been done in previous King Kong incarnations. Enjoy it for what it is: just eye candy and entertainment.

This is yet another King Kong movie with a different plot to it. I won't spoil the movie with spoiler's but it's a good twist on the king Kong franchise. It takes away the classic damsel in distress theme for a much better (imo) plot that's more realistic. It then leaves it open to another movie possibly in the future or one detailing Kong's past or both. Lot's of action and good acting.

I enjoyed this film, however if creature/monster films (Godzilla and the like) are not your cup of tea... This probably isn't for you. This is a fun film on it's own but what's especially exciting for me, it seems to confirm the creature films to come. Now I have to get a copy of Godzilla (2014) in 4K HDR. The immersive presentation of 4K HDR BluRay will make watching a couple of these in my living room feel like seeing a double feature at the drive-in.

Kong Skull Island is a non stop thrill ride, beautifully filmed with excellent special effects and a top notch cast. Even though the plot is a little predictable there are enough twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. This movie is a lead in to the expansion (hopefully) of the Pacific Rim universe and the eventual fight with Godzilla. A must see for all monster fans.

This version is great! I've never seen the "original" Japanese take on Godzilla but this new spin on the King Kong franchise has that kinda feel to it. They have made Kong a protector not just a monster. Watch it all the way through the credits... it looks like all the old ones, "Mothra", "Rodan" etc. may make a comeback. Definitely a good start to (hopefully) a new group of films!

Scientists, soldiers and adventurers unite to explore a mythical, uncharted island in the Pacific Ocean. Cut off from everything they know, they venture into the domain of the mighty Kong, igniting the ultimate battle between man and nature. As their mission of discovery soon becomes one of survival, they must fight to escape from a primal world where humanity does not belong.

Kong is no longer a 50 ft tall ape. He is now hundreds of feet tall! This film is essentially the first in a long line of ( at least the producers hope) "Kaiju" films. It introduces the characters, defines the issues facing mankind and sts up the battles to come. The special effects are outstanding, and the plot is acceptable. While not a "great film" this is an enjoyable popcorn movie, and definitely worth the price. I would recommend this.

Always loved the King Kong movies especially the original Kong of the 30's with Fay Wray (best scream ever). I've seen all the Kong movies and loved all except the Jessica Lange version. This movie will thrill you and it is very different from all the other Kong movies. The actors were all great. Anything with Samuel L. Jackson in it, I will see. I couldn't wait to get my Blu-ray and see it again in the comfort of my living room.

I, for the most part, enjoyed Kong: Skull Island. The action was well shot, and the plot was decent enough for a monster movie. Samuel L Jackson's character was a bit over the top, but this is a monster movie, so I suppose that was to be expected. Kong doesn't quite measure up to Gareth Edwards' Godzilla feature from a couple years ago, but I do still look forward to seeing Kong square off against (maybe with?) Godzilla in a couple years

After the not so good Godzilla movie from 2014, I was fairly hesitant on Kong Skull Island as it's part of the same universe and leading toward a King Kong vs Godzilla movie. Boy am I glad I ignored those hesitations and saw this movie which, up until seeing The Last Jedi last night, was my favorite movie of 2017. Can't wait to see where this movie universe grows to!

Kong: Skull Island sends a memorable if expendable group on a funky period journey. The Vietnam war setting and soundtrack work heavily in the movie's favor, the monster battles are ferocious, John C. Reilly's character wasn't nearly as obnoxious as I feared - in fact, he's the real beating heart of the story - and some choice closing shots get one more than excited for the joining of this film with another certain King of the Monsters.

i went into this movie with low expectations... i loved the Peter Jackson King Kong which was very true to the original... so i really had apprehensions of how this changed plot would work... BUT it totally worked! I seriously enjoyed this movie! Knowing it is connected to the Godzilla movie from a couple years ago, this movie made me want to go watch Godzilla again ...

This was a decent flick, a lot more action oriented than the 2014 Godzilla reboot. All the characters were decently fleshed out enough when you consider the kind of movie they were running around in and made me not want to kill myself while waiting on Kong to show up and kick butt. A new Godzilla movie comes out next year or the year after and then we get to see the eponymous radioactive lizard face off against the mighty KONG!

The movie is really cool. I like how big Kong is in the new movie! The steelbook has great art. I like that this is the complete package, it has 3d, bluray, and uhd all in one. I'm a 3d fan and just got a 4k LG oled so I'm glad to be able to get both in one package. Plus, with 3d discs being less and less, I'm glad to see WB still supporting it! Boo to no Atmos on the 3d though. Great flick, my wife liked it more than she though.

I bought Kong via promo with the buy 3 for $50 coupled with a $20 reward. I was looking forward to the 4K coupled with Atmos but I didn’t have high hopes for it otherwise. Boy was I wrong! This is a fresh take on the beast King Kong! Not a cookie cutter reboot. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I really like Tom Hiddleston at the helm too! P.S Watch the credits!

This is great value as it contains the 3d blu ray, 4k bluray, regular bluray and the digital copy all in one package. I think this is the way all steel books or collectors editions should go from here on out. Why make us choose between getting a steelbook or having the 3d? I hope this trend continues with better movies in the future. This is a decent start for the franchise with some good action scenes but the plot needed work

A monster movie we deserved. Kong Skull island is very well done. The dialogue is witty, the environment is spectacular and Kong is large and in charge. 2nd movie in this series after Godzilla, and this is what monster movies are supposed to be like. This is an absolute blast. Make sure to sit through the very very end of the movie. Grab some popcorn and enjoy.

The movie is one thing (great!) but the 3D image is one of the most vivid I have seen. Non action scenes even carry depth. Even if it has to be packaged in a 4 disc set with 4K here is hoping 3D still has legs
