Gave as a gift so I don't know anything about it..

Story is good, but it just isn't as entertaining as the other films during this time.

This movie had great characters but did not keep my attention.

This movie was kinda dark and scary for a children's film.

I cant believe how many people have not seen this treasure. story wont move the needle, but the artistry is unprecedented

Kubo is yet another adventure by studio Laika, this time telling the story of a young boy with the power to manipulate paper racing against time to collect a mysterious set of armor in order to confront his Immortal grandfather, the Moon King. The overall story is engaging, but lacks some of the punch left by previous Laika outings such as Coraline and ParaNorman. However, the story's final message more than makes up for its somewhat disjointed narrative, and the small cast help make said message speak great volumes. Visually, the film is a spectacle to be seen. Once again Laika outdoes themselves with a masterful use of stop-motion and blend it with CG that is almost impossible to distinguish from the handcrafted characters and environments. The overall package makes for a great family viewing that'll surely please the young and the old.

I bought this without seeing it first because I'd heard fantastic reviews of the movie. This is a great movie - well written, technically excellent, and has a good plot. This is a combination of stop motion and CGI. The picture quality of the Blu-ray was very good. My speakers aren't great, but that didn't detract from the presentation, so if you have a 5.1 or 7.1 system, this should be a treat for you as well. Highly recommended.

The cgi and the models are created very excellent. The storyline is based on a great Japanese fable from Japan. I believe that this story came from a fishing village in the south of Japan. The story dates back probably to 17th century japan for this fable.

It is a shame this movie didn't preform better in the box office. Its a wonderful piece of art. This is a must see movie.

I heard good things about this movie and decided to buy and watch. It was actually pretty entertaining and enjoyed the animation.
