There are some great musical sequences in this movie. The opening number on the LA freeway is amazing. It appears to be done in one shot with the action happening in perfect timing to the camera. The first duet dance at the park bench is adorable. This movie is reminiscent of the classic Hollywood musical but is modern. The final dream sequence is confusing at first but makes sense when it ends.

As someone who generally avoids "musicals" like the plague, I will admit I really liked this one. I got this based on the director's previous effort, "Whiplash", which was an excellent film. He understands the plight of the serious musician and obviously has a great love for jazz. Ryan Gosling is phenomenal, as he actually learned to play all the piano parts in the film - no easy feat.

It's just gorgeous, like a love story made of dreamy scenes that are somehow about contemporary life in Los Angeles. The Hollywood musical has all but become a thing of the past and a genre that few filmmakers attempt anymore. If I'm honest, I love musicals. I grew up with musicals and I'm overly enthusiastic about them. Growing up, who didn't love "The Whiz, Cinderella, or Grease".

I am one that hates musicals (except for Disney, 'cause I mean, it's Disney), but this movie really is an exception! If you haven't watched it, I would recommend it...believe the hype! And this Steel Box...absolutely love it! Why? Because the purple backdrop artwork (even though it's from one of my favorite scenes from the movie), was getting old. This design is sleek, simple and gorgeous!

While a delightful little movie, it just doesn't grab you like a classic musical like South Pacific, Moulin Rouge, Rent, or Fiddler on the Roof does.

Beautiful steelbook. It was delivered with dents in the steelbook because it was shipped in a bubble mailer envelope instead of a box. I wish Best Buy would ship steelbooks in boxes. The movie itself is excellent and one of my favorites of all time.

Gorgeous steelbook that looks much better in hand. Wonderful film that absolutely lived up to all the great things people said about it. I'm not even a big musical fan and I absolutely loved this film. The chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone is really something special. She really did deserve the Academy Award for her role and this film deserves all the praise it gets.

The movie itself is excellent. Loved the music, Ryan Gossling and Emma Stone. The disk quality also was excellent maybe if I had found a 4k version it would be better. I had problems with the digital redemption. It showed up in VUDU but failed to show up in the new Movies Anywhere. It’s one of two movies out of 10 that hasn’t shown up despite all efforts to sync. So now I have to bounce between 2 apps to see my full digital catalog. Bummer, but it doesn’t detract from the content of the film.

Bought this 4K movie for two reasons. Just bought a 4K TV, and my wife was interested in seeing the movie since it won a lot of awards. The 4K aspect makes you feel as though you are witnessing the action in person. Some may not like it, as it has a soap opera feel to it. Overall satisfied with the technological aspect. Jury is still out on how I feel about the story line.

Even with the ending as it stands, if you don't walk away from this movie feeling happier than you were when you started, I'd be shocked. A great movie that the family could watch. Extras are fun but aren't mind blowing. But the length of some of the continuous-shot scenes is noteworthy. Music was good enough to make me buy the soundtrack just to relive the moments.

Supply issues notwithstanding, this is a pretty great product that I’m so happy wasn’t damaged through shipping. I don’t know how or why Lionsgate keeps striking gold with their steelbooks, and at an affordable price to boot.

As i have said on previous reviews i am not s big fan of musicals but really enjoyed this movie. Visual and Audio are top notch. Colors pop off the screen. The Steelbook looks outstanding.

Love the movie. Didn’t like the delivery this time. Steelbook arrived dent free, but the plastic sleeve on it seems to have melted and hardened to “shrink wrap” the Steelbook. In other words, I had to cut off the plastic sleeve making it useless afterwards. I couldn’t exchange it because it’s sold out.

if you love musicals from a bygone era, you will love this! Ryan took piano and dancing lessons daily for this movie. Although the dancing is stiff, the jazz piano is incredible for someone who didn't play prior to getting this part. I don't live in the world of "your career vs. mine", but i was heartbroken these two characters couldn't make it work.

I ordered this item for pickup online on Black Friday. When I got there not only did they have it and the product itself met my expectations but the staff themselves were so friendly!

Best Buy and Lionsgate have been delivering some incredible steelbooks this year! Add the fact that they're a great price with 4K discs included and it makes for an easy pickup. Great artwork all around the steelbook honestly.

The steelbook was probably the biggest incentive for me to purchase this version over the standard. The steelbook is very sturdy and the image is very clean and classy. Otherwise, no differences with the disc. The BD image is first-rate (just about perfect unless you decide to upgrade to 4K) and the extras are very good. A great movie worth owning.

They really don't make movies like this anymore. My wife had to drag me to the theater to watch this movie. WOW what a great time I had at the movies. I kept looking at my wife and telling her how great the movie is. The actors do a great job at singing and dancing. Don't expect them to sound or dance like professionals, but they are pretty darn good.

Growing up, I remember watching musicals made during the 30s and 40s and being absolutely enchanted with the music and the dancing skills of the likes of Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly. While this movie has its moments, it unfortunately cannot compare to the charm and nostalgia that those movies were able to evoke. That being said, the movie makes a decent effort and if not compared to older musicals, I probably would have enjoyed it more. It's still worth a watch.

No wonder why this movie got great reviews...the acting and dancing performances are all Oscar worthy. Now, when it comes to the home owning experience on the 4k Bluray, it surpassed all my expectations. The picture and sound qualities are just outstanding, much better than being at the movie theater, with all the comfort of home. Two thumbs up!
