I knew about this film and expected to just like it, not love it. I do like musicals but NOT the ones like Moulon Rouge or crazy out there films. This is a seemingly light story that almost all can relate to about loves found and lost and some of the time in between. The movie never really gets to rough on the audience but if you like the first number, very much like something you might see in West Side Story but on a highway and no knives :-) you will probably like the rest of the film very much. These days we need all the entertainment we can get and this delivers. The two leads are almost like everyday people dancing and singing simple songs that comes together nicely in a simple yet powerful ending. You may like this if you don't really like musicals but will love it if you already like them.

This movie can be a bit hard to believe, but most movies are. It was fun and entertaining.

La LA Land is about dreamers. It tells a simple love story but the more important message it to hold on to your dreams. L.A. is probably the sun center for dreamers and this was a poignant ode to them. While most movies expose the heartbreak of broken dreams, and while there’s some of that here, it’s mostly about possibilities. You’ll hear more about the song and dance numbers which are dazzling but this movie is all about heart. While Gosling is very good, this film belongs to Emma Stone who tells the entire story through her eyes. I’m sure there will be thousands of would be actresses trying to line up self-financed one woman shows after seeing this but none of them are Ms. Stone. I’m not big on song and dance movies but there was an imbedded magic to this flick that drew me in.

"La La Land" is a phenomenal film that pays homage and harks back to the time when musical films ruled the cinemas. The production for this film is awe inspiring, especially during a time where the "art" of film making and story telling has somewhat been lost. Musical numbers often take a one-take approach allowing the audience to marvel at the choreography and music. The UHD Blu-ray release is noticeably improved over the standard 1080p blu-ray, with an increase in detail and natural, vibrant colors. The image looks good, although this is not shot digitally, rather on 35mm film stock, so things are not always razor sharp or always in focus as we've grown to accustom to in the digital filming era. However, the UHD does its job and is still an improvement.

The picture quality and sound are great! It would have been nice if a user manual came with it - it's a lot of pressing buttons to find things. Also, apparently when we bought the TV, it didn't have the current Samsung updates. We were not aware of this until our son-in-law was searching to fix a problem we had - every time the DVR turned on to record, the TV would turn on and stay on. The upgrade fixed that problem. The only other problems we still have are: when the TV up-converts old TV shows, there's a slight intermittent jump; and it seems we need to keep it on the "dynamic" color setting as the picture dulls and darkens a little bit when it's not set on dynamic; and the colors on the "movie" color setting are dull. But we are happy with the TV.

The artwork on this new steelbook for Damien Chazelle's 2016 La La Land is BEAUTIFUL! From front to back, this steelbook is a definite MUST HAVE for your steelbook collection. The transfers on the 4K & Blu-Ray discs as far as I know both look really great, and are the same from the original releases as far as i'm conserned. But, really, seriously, grab this new 4K steelbook for La La Land, it's worth having. Also, this movie should've won Best Picture at the Oscars in my personal opinion.

There’s no denying that Damien Chazelle (in his Oscar-winning direction) made great strides to callback all those famous Hollywood musicals from the last century, with La La Land. Featuring Best Actress, Emma Stone, there surely is a lot to love about this film and not just because of its near-triumph over eventual Best Picture winner, Moonlight, but also with its cinematography, music and dance sequences. Not to mention, excellent picture and sound on the 4K, as well.

Since this isn't a movie review site, I won't review the movie itself. This is a nice SteelBook. Unlike some, I don't mind that it has a different cover picture than the regular copy. The price was acceptable at the release week sale price. My only complaint, and the reason I docked it one star, was that the copy that was set aside for me for store pickup had a scratch on the cover. This continues to be a problem with SteelBooks; finding one that isn't scratched and/or dented. Luckily, there were still copies available in-store when I picked mine up (probably due to this not being as popular as other releases and/or people got swayed by competitors' exclusives of this movie) so I was able to exchange for a better copy. The person at the service counter was a little hesitant with my exchange request but the whole point in choosing this particular version versus another one (or another retailer's) is because of the case so you better believe getting a nice one is important!
