My niece loves musicals. She is 13 years old and has always wanted to be a singer.

They don't make them like they used to - and then this show burst on the screen. The most original/ inventive movie in years - all minus the CGI effects. The most compelling, infectious, addicting score and songs, all gloriously performed by a 90-piece orchestra. The footsteps and car sounds all done by an old-time Foley-effects crew. The saturated color of real 35mm film stock puts you back on the MGM lot watching "An American in Paris". The best excuse to buy or upgrade your Blu-ray player and surround sound system. The color really needs the Blu-ray presentation and the BR has many more extras than the DVD. Altogether, deserves all the awards and the "modern classic" accolade - a show you will watch many times.

La La Land is a wonderful film that looks back at the golden age of the Hollywood musical as well as American Jazz, while leaping forward into the future. It never feels too sentimental while managing to convey a very modern story of love and loss and renewal. It says that success is not easy and is different for everyone and does not always end the way we would wish. Nominated for many academy awards and well deserved. And the music and the songs! Oh the music and the songs. Just see it and enjoy. Just a suggestion, but don't see it with anyone who says things like "I don't like musicals" find someone who will enjoy it as much as you will. Oh and the cast oh the cast. Spoiler she won the Oscar.

Good movie with a very nice and enveloping dolby atmos soundtrack

This is movie meant to be watched more than once - and on a big tv.

Pretty good musical with great choreography and looks fantastic in 4k.

I don't really need to say much about the awesome movie La La Land, many many awards and just a great revival of the musical with a lot of great music. My input is on the product, which includes the 4K Bluray and a standard Bluray, you need a 4K player, and 4K TV to get the full benefit, I also recommend a surround sound system. The product also includes a digital download of the movie for streaming on Ultraviolet and iTunes. Unfortunately the Ultraviolet version is NOT UHD, it is HD. It is like there is always something missing, As an example (La La Land did not have a 3D release but) If I want 3D I can't have 4K and if I have 4K can't have the UHD streaming or 3D.

My son and I went to this movie when it came out. I personally had no intention or wish to see La La Land. But I went anyway and was very surprised to find out I enjoyed the movie immensely. Not a big fan of musicals, this really isn't a musical but a drama with some musical components. The story is involving and shows what aspiring actors must go through to succeed in the business. It also shows the difficulties actors and musicians go through to pursue their art. I really thought it would win the Oscar for best picture because it was an "actor's" movie, much like Birdman won best picture. La La Land was a very pleasant surprise and I highly recommend it.

Plays a lot like classic musical films but tells a sad story.

This is review is primarily of the overall packaging for this steelbook. It is a nice colorful and well designed package. My one gripe is that I am not the biggest fan of a see-thru slip where a character or image is outlined and must align perfectly with the image underneath because 9 times out of 10, the images are not perfectly lined up making it look a little dumb when the slip is on. The Steelbook itself looks really nice though otherwise. I would prefer a clear slip with just a title though - where alignment is not so important. Recommended.

The 4k is amazing! Packaging is brilliant! I decided to do a blind buy on La La Land. I wasn’t ever really interested in it-but decided the sale price was good for a blind buy..and MAN! What a great film! The ups and downs and then that ending!!! Not the way I thought it was gonna go. Loved the somewhat twist-I didn’t see it coming. Acting, singing-everything was evenly balanced I thought.

This is a great movie and does well as a musical and romance. I must say, if anything that this film just goes to show how talented Emma Stone really is. This is her film. Don't get me wrong Ryan Gosling is good but her performance just over shadows everyone else in this film. Together they do well but I was blown away by the scenes that involve just her. The steelbook is an awesome bonus to owning this movie. Simple and clean. I recommend this film and suggest watching with a love interest or even just by yourself. The steelbook is worth the price tag and I believe Best Buy is the only place to get it. So go get it!

Sony Pictures has been putting out gorgeous 4k steelbooks for a while now and La La Land is no exception. The artwork is gorgeous and comes with an amazing slipcover. The film is one of the best modern day musicals since the likes of Chicago. Catchy tunes and beautiful dance numbers immerse you in this highly stylized world. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are fantastic and leave you wanting another day of sun!

This is a truly remarkable achievement, this movie works on all levels. First as a musical, the opening number alone brought back glorious memories of Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire and lavish productions from the MGM golden age of musicals. The music, dance though were there to move along a story of true simplicity but uncompromising believability. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling were wonderful as the star crossed couple and even though you wanted the sappy Hollywood happy ending,the movie was true to itself and while not the ending my Mom would have loved it was the right ending for the film. Loved it from beginning to end.

There are two ways to review a blu-ray: based on the movie only, or based on the movie and the content The movie is already fantastic if you enjoy musicals. There is definitely a good reason it got nominated for the best motion picture Oscar.If you don't like musicals, this isn't going to change your mind. The blu-ray is great as well. It gives you a good amount of background information on the production, the dancing and singing. There is also a good director's commentary on both the blu-ray and dvd so that's a plus. Super sharp picture. Great quality sound especially in surround sound. Highly recommended.

I expected more of the choreographed dance number on the La Freeway in the opening scene. Otherwise, the movie details the lives of two individuals who cope with the conflicts resulting from their being more passionate about their artistic careers than about each other. Many funny albeit subtle lines so it helps if you are into the characters and listen carefully. Lots of what could have been that are summarized at the end. It is a fictional story so pick the one that have happened rather than what the writers selected. I didn't see Emma Stone's ultimate life as something that would have made her happy.
