Love affair with Bowie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this movie. Had it on vhs when I was little and due to watching it so much the sound and video quality was an issue. David Bowie in tights, lots of Jim Henson puppets, some of then creepy looking and a young Jennifer Connelly, with the same eyebrows she has today. If you appreciate Jim Henson puppets and a clean movie, this is an excellent movie. From Wikipedia. . The plot revolves around 15-year-old Sarah's quest to reach the center of an enormous otherworldly maze to rescue her infant brother Toby, who has been kidnapped by Jareth, the Goblin King. With the exception of Bowie and Connelly, most of the significant characters in the film are played by puppets produced by Jim Henson's Creature Shop.

Don't get lost in this one
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the top classic fantasy movies to own and now on 4K. This is the movie that needs to be right next to The Dark Crystal and Legend (and more) on your shelf. It's impossible to imagine anyone else buy David Bowie as the Goblin King as he himself does a lot of singing in this movie and this movie may not have garnered such a following had he not been in it. This one is good for kids and adults alike with very little violence and bad language.

A must-have remastered classic!
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of my childhood favorites! I still enjoy watching this film a couple of times a year. I’ve had it on VHS, DVD, Bluray, and now I will continue to enjoy it in 4K. If you are reading this, chances are good that you’ve already seen this movie 100 times (or more). Purchase the 4K copy and continue to share one of Jim Henson’s best pieces of work with family and friends. Or, just buy it for yourself because you know you want to!

If you like Fantasy and 80's
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.his movie is nostalgic for kids great grew up in the 80's. It is along the same fantasy lines as "The Dark Crystal" or "Neverending Story". Jim Henson was a major part of the puppetry in "The Labyrinth" and "The Dark Crystal". David Bowie is not really the lead actor but he makes the entire film work. Jennifer Connelly also does a great job as the lead actress. Keep in mind, this film does have a corny undertone but is somehow well done in spite of it. If you like the 80's, like fantasy movies and liked the other two I mentioned, you'll enjoy "The Labyrinth". Order and get the popcorn poppin'.

A classic with a subtle edge...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did not see this when it first came out to theaters. I was a David Bowie fan and I enjoyed the Muppet Show in prime time, but I thought Muppet's and Bowie was a strange combination. My wife taught me the error of my ways. I bought the VHS then, the DVD when it was available and now the anniversary edition. The enhancements to picture and sound and the extra features are a great addition, but the movie is the thing. Great music of course ( it's Bowie ) and the puppetry shows that stuff back in the day could be just as good without a green screen.

Good mive- limited benefit of buying this version
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This movie is great, and I bought it for my daughter to watch. However, there are limited extras, no digital version included, so I am not sure it is worth it if you already have a DVD version. However, if you don't already have a copy (like we didn't) it is worth the money.

Excellent trip down memory lane
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I remember as a small child absolutely loving Jim Henson's creatures in both the Dark Crystal & Labyrinth movies-- And now with the release of the 30th Anniversay edition blu-ray steelbook, I couldn't be happier. It still holds up and the remastered version looks FANTASTIC! On a side note, while I absolutely love the CGI effects in the best of today's spectacle movies... I have to say that I do miss the whimsical element found in my favorite childhood movies from the early 80's - like Time Bandits, Neverending Story, The Dark Crystal, and of course, Labyrinth...

Labyrinth is the best movie of all time!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The best collector's edition I've ever had. I loved how true they made the collector's edition to the movie. Labyrinth is truly one of my favorite movies. If you are a fantasy fan this one is a classic. There will never be a movie so freaking cool like this. David Bowie was the best goblin king ever and you will not be disappointed with Jennifer Connelly has the adventure of a lifetime. If you had an Awesome Mom like mine she would've showed you this real sweet movie. Definitely buy the collector's edition it's awesome!!

A Jim Henson Classic
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 30th Anniversary edition of Muppet-man Jim Henson's classic 1986 film about a little girl's (a really young Jennifer Connelly) battle with the Goblin King (a sly and sinister David Bowie in one of his few film roles) to save her brother comes loaded with extras, but it is the movie itself that is the draw. It still looks great and feels timeless--a true fairytale that will surprise kids who have seen it all in countless modern ripoffs. Priced at $10 or less, it's a must-have addition to any collection.

Fitting Tribute to A Classic Movie
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really unique how the booklet is bound in leather (pleather?) for a unique look fitting the movie itself. The contents and pictures included in the booklet are interesting to see and shed light on how the movie was conceived and produced. Plus having such a classic movie on 4K is definitely great.

Most beloved film of all time!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Words can not contain my love for this film. My family and I went to see it when it originally hit the theaters, and I have been obsessed with it since. MY best friend and I watched this movie, about 5 times a day, for like 10 years, until we melted the VHS tape. This movie will change your life, and you will be addicted to the craftsmanship of the puppetry, the costumes, the story, the characters,...just EVERYTHING. If you have not seen this yet, you are missing out on a true classic.

The fantasy classic shows a bit of age but is stil
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I only remember seeing this movie many years ago, but I saw a Blu ray version in the bargain bin at a local store. I picked it up remembering the late David Bowie was in the movie. Sarah, a petulant 15-year old [future Oscar winner, Jennifer Connelly (“A Beautiful Mind”)], is forced to babysit her baby brother on a Saturday night. When little bro’ refuses to stop crying, she wishes he would just disappear. Sarah, who reads fantasy books, goes so far as to recite some mumbo-jumbo she finds in one of her books…and what do you know, she gets her wish. Then Bowie appears as Jareth, the Goblin King. She wants her brother back. He says, she has 13 hours to get him but she must traverse an elaborate labyrinth/maze to get to his castle and retrieve her brother. Along the way she gets help from an assortment of characters from the imaginative minds of Brian Froud and director Jim Henson. One of those characters is a grumpy goblin named Hoggle or as Sarah calls him a couple times, Hogwart…hmmm. In today’s world, all of these characters would either be CGI created or motion capture. Here it’s costumes and puppeteering. Bowie and Connelly do a nice job as essentially the only humans in the film interacting with the cloth and rubber goblins. There is one real sheep dog, who is replaced in some scenes by a puppet and yes, it’s noticeable. While the creativity is wonderful, the film is really a one trick pony. Just Sarah navigating her way through the maze to rescue her brother. She must use her wits to outmaneuver the assortment of goblin who are meant to keep her away. The film has a very ‘80’s feel to it (maybe it’s the big hair), but looks pretty good in Blu ray. The transfer includes a 1080p video resolution and a 2.35:1 aspect ratio. The disc begins with the menu, with no ads, promos or trailers to skip through. How refreshing. The first several minutes of the film are a bit noisy in terms of scratches and heavy grain. But like some vinyl records, it cleans itself up as it goes along. Colors are acceptable but never really pop like most modern Blu ray transfers. Detail is very good. Good enough to see a few wires here and there. Black levels and skin-tones are certainly good if not as good as most modern transfers. The soundtrack features a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track and it is very good. Thunder resonates through the bass and subwoofers. There are some modest action sequences which come across nicely. All-in-all a nice mix. Subtitles are available in English SDH, Spanish, French and Portuguese. Extras are fairly substantial and include: *Making of Documentary: Inside The Labyrinth *Commentary with Brian Froud *Journey through the Labyrinth: "Kingdom of Characters" *Journey through the Labyrinth: "The Quest for Goblin City" *The Storytellers
