    I purchased this hard drive because of the good recommendations it always had, but after 6 months of working perfectly, the entire drive went corrupt overnight, lost a TB worth of work with no option to erase or recover the data. Now I'm out of my money and data!

    Had great expectation of this hard drive, my first LaCie drive, but it died about 19 days after I bought it. It could be accessed by Mac or Windows. GeekSquad could access either. Currently, talking with Segate about it, which seems to be going good.

    Every couple of years, I have to buy a LaCie external drive because they keep failing. This is extremely frustrating and expensive. When they work, they work great, but once they fail, they are worthless. I am not rough with them - they are not dropped or damaged or stored in adverse conditions. So, I can't really recommend this product, but still I feel the need to have a hard drive back up in addition to online or cloud back-ups.
