    Favorite Show on Television

I watch very little TV, but Legion is intriguing for two reasons, primarily: -Whereas many programs get you to watch the next episode by making you wonder how the story will unfold, Legion is often obtuse enough that you're not really positive what it is you just watched. So instead of needing to know the next plot beat, you're wondering what it was you've already seen. However, the craft of the show and the hyper-stylization and anything-goes attitude of the editing is such a marvel to behold, you're enthralled simply by the experience of the visuals. You'll see this often in films, but not so much in TV. -And as a representation of several common comic book/superhero tropes, Legion blazes new trails. Often the 'psychic' archetype in these or other science-fiction stories are engaged in psychic battles or whathaveyou; challenges and episodes playing out entirely within their mind. We sort of take for granted "oh sure, some weird stuff is going in in their superpowered mind, and then something in the real world will levitate or whatever." Legion elaborates on this by submitting the audience to those very psychic confrontations and "nonspaces," visualizing something that we've sort of only imagined. Terrific show.

    "Is this real?"

There are a bunch of comic book superhero shows on TV right now and most of them deliver about what you'd expect, with an inoffensive mix of action and serialized drama. And then there's Legion, an entirely different kind of comic book superhero show, one that bucks convention and subverts the genre into abstract existentialism. Our protagonist is a mutant mental patient with a host of powerful abilities which he’s ill equipped to control. He has problems determining what’s real and what’s in his mind, a lingering uncertainty which quickly spreads to viewers. Show-runner Noah Hawley brought a bunch of experimental elements to Fargo, his other FX series, and he’s gone even further with Legion. The cinematography and score are stunning, infusing the show with a unique look and feel. Dan Stevens, Aubrey Plaza, and the rest of the cast are fantastic throughout as well. Fascinating and challenging, the show hits like a fever dream and there’s nothing quite like it.

This is a TV series that tells a story starts off a little slow and bills and bills to a crescendo. I kind of like when you get a good show.

    My favorite TV shows

Legion is not only a great superhero show, but it is, in my opinion, one of the best TV shows out there. Visually stunning and mindbending at times, I bought this on bluray to rewatch over and over. If you're starting it for the first time and are confused, that's part of the experience! Sure enough, they do a nice, succinct summary of events later on in the seson, culimating in a very rewarding payoff. Also, the addition of the copy of the book featured in the TV show was another reason I chose to purchase the physical copy versus streaming it. I cannot recommend this show enough!

Quality TV in a quality collection

The best comic book series out there, mostly because it is about a serious exploration of the psyche and not focused on typical superhero shenanigans. The Blu-ray set itself is even better than the original TV release because it has a variety of special features and bonus footage not available elsewhere.

The strangest and weirdest Marvel franchise ever!

Imagine Twin Peaks, The Prisoner and X-Men fused together into a hallucinogenic drug trip of a show and your starting to get some idea of what Legion is all about. The characters are mutants, but with the strangest collection of abilities you can possibly imagine. Dr Xavier's school is not mentioned and they have discussed alternative universes (even given us glimpses of the main characters lives in these alternate realities), so it is very possible (perhaps likely) that there is no Dr X or his school in the show's particular version of reality. The show is so weird that it really does come off as a Twin Peaks that can actually be followed (if you pay close enough attention to EVERYTHING!). There is literally nothing else like it on television. If you like mind bending mental trips, this my be right up your alley. I do and it's right up mine.

    Quite The Mind Bender

AMAZING show. This story takes place within the X-Men universe, but a lot of it won't feel like a super-hero show, which, for these types of characters, is perfect. Reminds me a bit of Twin Peaks and Silence Of The Lambs, it's entirely focused on the complex characters, rather than some big scary monster or super villain of the week. Incredible cinematography and even better score, lots of great original music and some crazy covers of classic songs. Check it out, unlike Twin Peaks, it actually ANSWERS some of the insane questions it throws at you lol.

    A Legion of wild episodes

Sweet sassy molassey, this series is wild! Dan Stevens does an incredible job as the title-character, playing all sorts of versions of himself. However, it's Aubrey Plaza that has me scared. I pray that woman is an amazing actress, otherwise, wow, she cray-cray! The whole season has you guessing what's real and what's not. Fun series, glad to own it. Oh, and the lenticular case is super-cool too!

This show is strangely addictive - actually strange AND addictive. Based upon a character from Marvel's New Mutants comics, a lesser known one at that, it is a crazily-woven madhouse trip that takes time to digest after each episode. I watched the first season and now will binge it so I can prepare for next season. It walks a different creepy path for sure!

    Better than the last X-movie

You need to stick with Legion for a little bit in order to make sense of the sensory overload being thrown at you, but it's worth it. This show doesn't mind going off the deep end and expecting you to keep up, and I appreciate that. Bring on Season 2 (hopefully in HD, but Fox doesn't seem that invested in their series after the first season as of late).

Not your typical Marvel related show

The show loosely uses characters and lore from the X-Men comics, but even than the show feels nothing like a comic book TV show. It follows it's own ground in terms of style and storytelling and everything. Entertaining, but very off the beaten path if you're fine with that.

This is my favorite purchase of the year! Its the best show on TV. The acting, visuals, writing, music... everything is perfect. The bluray itself is perfect too. It has an incredible lenticular slipcover, the transfer is fantastic, and it goes perfectly along with my other XMen blurays.

Legion is very unique, visually dazzling, and strange. It's a very different take on the genre and isn't your normal super hero show. The blu-ray is solid with good picture and sound. I highly recommend it
