Great Laptop

I bought the laptop because I wanted something capable of smooth operation while multitasking during schoolwork (zoom class, while having a couple chrome tabs open and maybe some music playing off Spotify) and I wanted a laptop where I could throw my favorite games at it and have no issue running them. It’s a excellent gaming machine with sturdy build quality and the cooling system seems to be amazing, the fans do get a little whinny after long sessions but your computer will stay cool.

The laptop itself is great

The issue I encountered was very bizarre though. I purchased the laptop as an open box item, and upon building it up noticed some weird things. The Desktop wallpaper was an HP omen logo and then upon going into the properties of the machine it literally said that it was an HP omen. It is a Lenovo legion. The computer even had HP’s Proprietary softwares installed on it. I ended up having to do a fresh windows install just to get the bios to recognize that I wasn’t using an HP laptop. My only assumption is that the computer was imaged with an OS image from an HP omen or that whoever had the laptop before it was returned to Best Buy and sold as an open box item switched out the SSD with one that had an HP’s operating system. The overall point is that I’m a bit disappointed in the “geek squad” for somehow managing to not catch that very obvious issue before selling the machine. I noticed it literally as soon as I booted the computer up, which leads me to believe that whoever “prepared“ this machine for resell did next to nothing to actually check if it was good to go. That, or geek squad are the ones who created the issue thinking that whoever bought it wouldn’t notice. Thankfully it was an easy fix but when you pay that much money for a laptop you really shouldn’t have to do any maintenance out of the box. That’s just lazy customer service.

I watched a lot of reviews when looking for a good, affordable gaming laptop so I knew basically what I was getting. Love the customizable keyboard lights, runs all the games I was wanting it for and has a nice display. Can run most games for a casual gamer that likes beefy games. It's a bit bigger than what I was expecting and didn't notice in the reviews that it plugs into the back. Would be perfect with upgraded storage. Overall definitely worth the price!

Posted .This Lenovo Legion 5 15 Gaming Laptop, model number 82JW00BFUS, is a full-size, high performance gaming configuration laptop with a full-size 15.6 inch (screen size measure diagonally) screen and a standard QWERTY keyboard with 10-Key Numeric Pad included. This model weighs just 2.4 kg (5.3 lbs). This model ships with a Integrated 60Wh, Lithium-Polymer Battery, which within this model configuration, has a battery life of up to 6 hours, depending on the work the device is performing. Use the Hybrid Power Management Setting within the Legion Vantage Dashboard for maximum battery life. Additionally, if you are getting substantially less battery life, first, set your screen brightness at less than 100-percent - try 80-percent to start with. Then, be sure Battery conservation Mode is turned off. This power management setting should only be used when the laptop is plugged in all the time. It will prolong overall battery life by only charging the battery to 60-percent of capacity. Here is a link to instructions for turning off Battery Conservation Mode: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht103159. Also check what programs are running in the background on the computer. Be sure only the programs you want running in the background are. These programs will drain the battery. Then, finally, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. Incompatible software will drain the battery at a faster rate. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults.
